If your going to get a new chain, now would be the time to seriously consider O or X ring. They don't cost that much more and are easier to maintain in my OP.

Thanks China Rider 27. I'll do exactly that. Do know if the which us mire likely to fit in the housing, the 428, 420, 520, 530? I'll admit, I'm clueless.

Thanks Bruces although wish I've seen this before I used a black sharpie instead of some white out. It only takes you 3 times. That's impressive compared to my 5ish plus-ish.lol

Sorry don't know, mine had small chain i think a 420 was replaced with a 428 oring chain and new sprockets

Do you have a caliper to measure pin-to-pin distance in the chain? Then measure the roller width and consult a chain manufacturers table to refer your measurements into chain size. To count links count sideplates and multiply by 2. Good luck, let us know what you find out.
