Just checked the throttle line is seated properly but I have zero play, even after adjusting things. The slide is also in the correct position as well i even pulled up diagrams to make sure I didn't have the slide backwards but its correct. Kind of running out of ideas lol

So we are back a square one. Intake leak. Remove the carb and intake and smear a little grease on them to help seal. Make sure the hose connected to the intake is connected at both ends and not cuts in the line. You could plug the vacuum line on the intake to rule that out. You should also have room for throttle cable adjustment at the throttle as well.

So I readjusted the carb and made sure that everything was correct. Now it is not revving quite as high anymore but I have that idle mixture screw turn out pretty far and it is still slow to stop revving once I let off of the throttle

Going to take it off and grease intake area now! And I'll make sure those lines are all connected. Thanks

i would check the grip end of the cable too, the wire can get out of the grove and cause excess pull.

I think you just solved my problem!!! Thanks alot. The cable was out of the throttle groove, I slid it back corrected fire the bike up, no more high sticking revs and it idles fine. Only issue now is I have to put the air fuel screw back to a decent setting because when I revved it.....guys it spit a flame from the exhaust and that can't be good. Gonna put it all together and take it onba ride to see how it performs

Bike rode fine, just some popping here and there and i can smell a little unburned fuel from the exhaust.Holy heck I'm running very rich. My plug is charcoal. Idle screw is set fine. My mixture screw is set fine. Next step would be main jet??? I'm at a 120 right now with a pod filter. 6000 elevation in NY. I was thinking about stepping back down to a 115?? Not sure if that would help

whats your storm at? should be somewhere close to that. im at 600' 38/118 and im still a bit rich.

The hawk i picked up had the same issue with the throttle cable, but it was sticking at like mid throttle.

My storm is bone stock and I believe the main jet is either a 100 or 105. Runs good. But again its bone stock. If I threw a pod filter and an exhaust haha things would change. Tomorrow when I get home I'll gonna put the 115 main in because my plug is pitch black right now when I checked it. I figured since I was going with the pod filter I'd jump to a 120 but its popping when I hit throttle and I smell gas. Runs and idles normal until I start moving.

I have a uni filter and ebay exhaust and a 120 will cause me major bog. once the temp stops going from the mid 40's one day to the 90's the next im going to drop down to a 115 and maybe drop the pilot down a size.

You have it all figured out! Weird to see how someone else I know in NY with a nibbi carb has a 120 and his runs okay. So weird. Maybe its the carb type as well?? Idk. He also lives out in the mountains of ny though so maybe its different. 115 it is and I'll report back tomorrow. Thanks again for all the help

yeah different carbs will have different requirements due to their design. Dan has covered some of the changes he has had to make switching between the many carbs hes tried. Even two bikes will have slightly different needs. If you guys are getting the huge temp swings like we are it will be a bit of a compromise until it gets into summer and the bike will favor a smaller jet in the hot air. trial and error, joy of carbs lol.

Asside from the cable adjustment and clearing any snaggs, check that the plunger needle retention clip is seated and properly holding the needle solidly against the bottom of the slide. A bent needle could also cause dragging which also could make it slow to return to a proper idle.
