And how did you determine what engine I have? Motor sn starts with 8DC.
Who makes it? Tomorrow (maybe), I'm going to check valve clearance and change the oil, and may just do a test. I'll measure the displacement and should be able to get within a cc or two. Last edited by Mag00; 01-16-2016 at 01:44 AM. |

Either that or... my bike, and a few others imported by a different importer, ordered up some models with a non approved configuration of engine. The photos I see online of most Apollo engines is different than what I and a few others have. They are all agb36c's, yet are visibly different in the engine covers. |

Like Weldangrind said it is the CB Series engine and closely related to the Honda XR200.
Zhejiang Apollo Motorcycle Manufacturer is a engine assembler, but still classified by EPA as the manufacturer. Engine covers are just that covers. It's a assembler trick, to make you think they manufactured the engine. A Pic from my catalog. Last edited by fitze; 01-16-2016 at 11:40 AM. |

That means nothing. The "big four" do exactly the same thing. The only way to determine displacement is by applying bore and stroke into a formula.

the only way i know to be absolutely sure is to pull the plug, turn to bottom dead center and see how many cc's of oil you can get in the cylinder.

That's true! Although, it's much less messy to remove the head and measure the bore and stroke.

Why go through all that trouble and mess to measure displacement? It is cast into the block.
But... If I decide to check, it will be with air and water. Quite easy and cheap and clean. But none of that tells me who manufactured the engine on my bike. Anybody know where Apollo got this engine from? |
