Apollo rx 250 question

What's the scoop on the engine. It looks similar to what the Hawks are using. The engine does not look like the ones for sale currently, does not have the oval cover on the left side.

This is a 2014 agb36c

That's quite a different engine from the Roketa link. Can you show us a close-up of the left side of the Apollo engine?

It boggles my mind as to exactly what it is. vin is a 2014. There is a topic posted here about another owner trying to ID the same looking engine, with no luck.

The bike itself is built better than my Bashan, yet it seems quit similar in other areas.

I stripped it down pretty far today and took a look at what I may need. It should run with minimal work. I think I am going to modify it to be a pseudo trials bike. Can't afford a Gas Gas, and quite frankly could not possibly drive one (gas gas) to the level that the bike needs.

This does have electric and kick start. So, short of gearing, might work out well for a fun trials/trail bike.

I think it may have a 530 chain and sprocket setup.

In Chinese circles, that engine is referred to as a CB250. Nothing like the CB250 that Honda built; this one is more closely related to the Honda XR200, although the stud spacing on this engine is much wider.

The chain is likely to be either 428 or 520.

Thanks, any idea who manufactures the engine?

According to mso: Zhejiang Apollo Motorcycle Manufacture co. AGB36C 250cc. So I wonder if it is a full 250cc's? Or just a 229 like most other 250's.

The chain and sprocket are wider than the 520. I will measure it at some point, but it is a beefy chain, more than my TR650. I had picked up some chain at the flea market, from a guy who allegedly was selling them to the Harley people. I was going to use it on my DR200, but was to wide for that. I paid $5 for each length and that included a master link. Now glad I bought em, as they will fit this bike.

Just seems odd that the chain is so thick.

I pulled the plastics and hosed it off. Then I started chasing the wiring problems and found a melted connector.

According to HB's bore and stroke statement, your engine is a 223.

It is a 250cm3 engine, just found the casting on the block.

I also found a site that pictures the one I have http://wholesaleatv.com/product/apollo-250cc-3/ and their specs say 229.

Seems they make a couple different iterations of the agb36, The clutch cover on this one has the cutout by the kick starter like mine, can't find a photo of the other side, but I'm sure this won't have the oval chrome plate at crankcase center.

Some say the motor may be made by Bashan. Something about Bashan Apollo and another all working together.

I sorted out the wiring troubles and fired it up today. Sounds real healthy, not wimpy or obnoxious. I need to button up all the wires now.

Anybody know where to find a larger gas tank for one of these? I can post up pics tomorrow on what it looks like.

The Apollo 36 is a very common bike as it is readily available on Amazon.com from Smart Deals Now. Lots of YouTube videos on this bike.

There's only 1 type (223 | 166FMM) approved by EPA as "AGB-36C" https://www.google.com/#q=agb-36c+site:epa.gov |http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/...930003_223.pdf

Barrel tells NOTHiNG
For example SAME 65.5*62.2
Stock Zongshen | Loncin ["PL-1" | Maker: "蟠龙") says 250 | Stock Jialing ["logo" | Maker: 公羽 http://www.cngongyu.com] is more honest: "223" as url from #9
(std type that as Honda) 15mm pin http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=14554046635 | smaller 13mm pin http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=524781871221
