Thats what I was hoping to hear Great job!! The "catcher ring" on mine has the bolts above he sprocket attach bolts.. but the pic you sent shows them level? So I'm not sure it is the same. Unless the pic you showed is yet another "generic" sprocket pic. I'm saying., if I got the sprocket in the pic. Either the ring, or the sprocket couldn't fit as the holes wont line up. :(

DOH!! Just spotted the disclaimer haha..

"Stock photo shown, actual item may vary by model"

Awesome!.. I just replaced my Harley, and then spotted an 83 Yamaha xj900 that I couldn't resist, so funds are low and wife is gonna need a treat to keep her off my back lol

Thumbs Up Awesome!

Okey Dokey... Sprocket arrived and I slapped it on in about 20 minutes lol
BOY was that cir-clip a PIG!!
Took it for a quick spin, and YAYY.. now I'm not fishing for that extra gear. Not really any faster.. but to be honest it wasn't really warmed up. But feels much better now.. Mine fit right on and just 18 bucks shipped.

Thanks for the size info. That is golden for myself, and the other Storm 250 riders. Thanks again

Great job! That's exactly how I would describe my recent sprocket change. I went from a 15/46 to 17/46 on my 200cc. And it's not really any faster max... but the engine is running more comfortably in each gear. 1st gear is actually usable now too.

Cheers!

Oh, you just changed the front.. I was thinking about that.
And to be honest, my head was telling me to try a 47 rear.. I think that may be more of a "Duel" setting.. the 50 is absolutely perfect for off road in my opinion. As I probably do 75% highway and 25% (max) off road, I guess this setup will be fine. Anyway.. at 18 bucks a throw, it wouldn't harm to get a 47, just for grins

To add my bike is exactly like yours so the sprocket i used should work perfect for you as well. As for the chain catcher ring the one i order didnt have one but i put it on just the same and have not had 1 problem yet if you need more info feel free to ask i try to check the forums daily btw amazing looking bike! I should have more pictures up soon haha im kinda lazy when it comes to pictures.
I have put a few miles on my Storm 250 and finally decided to open it up. Kept up with freeway traffic, pegged the speedometer.

It was squishy (tires) and the motor was rapping out, but smooth, scary but smooth. I wish I had a tachometer installed so I would know RPM, but my guess was 8k or so.

I have the 45T rear. I doubt I would have got the odo pegged with the stock gearing.

Pull the plug, Ground it to cylinder head and check for spark, does it smell of gas?
You need those two at least to get running. Timing is the other. Check carb boot not leaking.

Wait.. when you say the Elec Start not working, do you mean it doesn't turn over, or turns over and doesn't start?

Chances are you need to give the battery a good charge. They are not the best in the world lol

The 2015 Storm 250 comes with 17T front and 46T rear. Top speed is 70, but 1st gear is still real short. You can safely go to a 44T if you're riding a lot over 80km/h or 50mph. Off road she'll want to stay in the first 3 most of the time, but she'll do fine. The 45T or 44T will take the strain off of the engine should you wish to stay in the 100 to 120km/h range for extended periods.

Yesterday I received my new sprockets from Amazon. $59 delivered one day early.

JTF259.17T(front)
JTR269.39T(rear)
JTR428HDR 132link

Took just over 2hours to install. I ended up cutting the chain 6 or 7 links, (I didn't count them). The bike rides much smoother now, still plenty of power and pick up through the low ranges, much more relaxed cruising at 65mph to 70 mph.. Speedo stops at 120km/h so I have no idea how much faster it is, but top speed will be as close to 80 as the CDI will let you get.
None the less, I can ride the freeway now without over straining the engine.
I did a lot of research before deciding on this combination, and I must say my pleasure meter is pegged. So is my Speedo

try increasing your tire pressure. If you're running the "motard" tires you can air up the front to 32psi and rear to 40psi. For the nobbies about 20psi front and 25psi rear. If it still feels squishy, try 30psi. Don't want to over pressure your nobbies though. They will wear out quickly.

for off road just drop a little pressure in both. I carry a compact bicycle pump to add pressure when I need. Fits in the tool pouch and really works well.

In all, replacement tires and wheels are affordable but a little tricky to find.

So, stevecast, the 250 Storm will top out at 70 mph stock? I would think it would cruise nicely at 50-55 then?

I went from a 50T to a 45T and top speed was about 68 with both. It just feels much better with the 45T I still want to try a 47T though.

And yes, this bike will run all day at 55
