The ohc engines are the ticket for high miles on these, they are still running strong as day one and we never adjusted anything but the carbs 8O
We'll see about the push rods, since I have two of them and one's still in the crate. There's a noticable smoothness to the OHC at all rpms, but the push rod isn't that much different at cruising rpm. We'll see.

Question for you who has changed from dirt tires to street tires:
How do you experience the difference? Do you now lean more i the curves now? Is i much less vibrations? Do you experience a huge differende regarding grip on paved roads?

I haven't changed from dirt to street tires on my G5 but I do ride street bikes with street tires as well as the G5 with it's knobby tires. There is a huge difference between street tires and knobby tires. A good street tire has amazing grip on the street, but lousy grip on dirt or gravel. A good knobby tire has good grip on dirt and gravel but lousy grip on the street.

I changed from chen shens(sp) knobies, to Kenda Challenger street tires. My stock front knobie wasnt mounted properly and wore out fast.
I thought there would be more difference changing to a street tire. I think the stock tires handled really well on the street. When the road is wet though, I'm glad I changed tires. The tubes, on the other hand were weakfrom the start. :oops:

I have found the stock CST to do well on the street, but they wear fast. Compared to a street bike with street tires they feel somewhat wobbly on the street at higher speeds.

I have come close to dragging pegs with the stock tires.

i can lean alot more now the other day i rubbed my toe on the pavment.
the only down side for me is my street tires are wider hince more touching the road so top speed went down just a little.

- Maximum lean angle the same. Foot pegs touch with both.
- Maybe slightly more stable at higher speed because of the higher rotating mass
- Slightly more effort in switchbacks because of the higher rotating mass. The knobbies would be preferred if you doing a lot of this I guess, like a slalom.
- Vibration marginally better
- Grip similar on dry pavement, wet pavement is certainly more sure footed
- Main difference is a nicer ride quality and longer tread wear between tire changes.

I found the maxxis at bikebandit for $47 after shipping. Still the duro is cheaper from americanmototire at $45 including shipping.

Its a tough choice between the two, but considering that I spend 98% of my kilometers on the street I went ahead and ordered the duro from americanmototire.

I also bought a 15T sprocket from Bruce and still have the kenda trakmaster that I intend to put on for planned offroad rides.

If I rode more dirt I would have gone to the maxxis as it looks to be alot more aggressive.

I will give a full report on the duro once I get it mounted up. I have almost 3000 miles on the stock CST and it is about smooth. Plan to run it until it is gone too.

Finally a title, just have to swing over and transfer it to me.

The Best 50/50 tire I have ever used is the IRC GP-1. Feels good on the street and still very capable in the dirt. If you really want 50/50, give them a try.

Got the Duro mounted today with 3400 miles on the clock.

Stock CST was just about smooth in the middle.

Duro is made in Taiwan and has nice deep lugs.

My initial review is very positive. It just so happen to rain today and the new asphalt road was damp. The duro is great on the street with much better feel in the turns and leaning over.

Gravel road felt very stable at 35 mph. Sand was okay. Mud not very good. Offroad wooded trails I rate it about the same or better than the cst.

Overall great for the dollar tire. I think I will like the road manners much better than the cst.
