MY25 CFMoto MT450

Apologies for the clickbait title...I do not actually have MY2025 CFMoto MT450....Zing

However I am committed, and after my test ride and failed finance application. I used the $250AUD deposit and put it towards the pannier rack, crash bars, UNI Prefilter and to save my back a center stand kit.

It was more cost effective/cheaper for me to order the official parts from the dealer than any online alternative...I checked

Bash plate and 15t front sprocket is cheaper from AExpress...fitment and quality unsure...

I digress...

The parts have been on preorder for a couple of months (demand is high/supply low)

Today it all showed up other than the upper crash bars which are still on back order.

Quality looks decent...

about $450 AUD total. checked weight which looks about 10KG (the center stand being about 4kg) Upper crash bars maybe another 2kg.

Yes I have essentially "bought the cart before the horse" But with all the preorder accessories parts listing, It seemed smarter to get it preemptively

Hoping to have my MT450 by February next year...which isn't too far away

I don't believe there will be a new 2025 colour.

So I will be going with the Zephyr Blue. I asked an old childhood female friend which colour( she likes Toyota Landcruisers and 4wds)...she also agreed with the blue...

I have intentions to possibly find a pillion passenger (not my friend)...But her opinion matters...

The grey/black might look tough. But I'm a road visibility safety dork, I don't have problems with pink being an 80s fluro kid.

Deposit Made

Had my 44th Birthday today 6th/Jan

With enough saved up to put down a 50% deposit and reserve my MT450 in Zephyr Blue.

I looked at the white board at the dealership and about 15 out of 60 motorcycle on the board were MT450s

I asked how are they selling...They informed me that it is now their number 1 selling motorcycle and about 45000 have been sold nationally.

Back when I tried to get finance last October'ish that number was 9000.

Asked if there have been any issues...1 exhaust needed to be repaired and the rubber pads on a seat also needed to be fixed...that was about it.

Next shipment is expected end of January.

New Bike Day

Well here it is...

Paid in full + full comprehensive insurance and a full tank of gas.

Upper crash bars came in the same time so installed them pretty easily along with the UNI pre filter

Break-in period 1000km

feels great on the road and planted on the small section of gravel I took back home.

Clutch and gear shifts are sublime compared to the XL/CG250 it easily 5x better

Possible name Zep or Zeph (Zephyr Blue) color

Commence Farkle time

Curious to see if the people who were waiting (and waiting) for a Versus 450 are the ones buying these. Maybe I'll check at Adventure Rider to see.

I'm in Australia so my domestic market might be a lot different to other global regions.

What I can tell you quoted by the sales staff is the MT450 is currently their #1 selling motorcycle by a considerable margin.

My bike was 1 of 20 shipped to my local CFMoto sales retailer and all bikes were sold and they have only just cleared their back log of orders...

Other quotes were that 3 people trading in their CRF300l for a MT450

The staff also eluded to the possible fact that the MT450 is currently Australia's number 1 selling motorcycle 24/25

and for every 1 Himmy 452 there are 7 MT450 sold.

Diabolical Center Stand Springs

Installing the center stand was also fairly straight forward with the included instructions.

but then it came down to installing quite possibly the most diabolical tension spring setup...

I am not sure how you're supposed to do it,

But I opted for the ratchet strap and wire approach (the hooks failed). Good luck finding an alternative method.

Photos are fairly self explanatory.

The sales staff implied the MT450 is Australia's is #1 selling motorcycle currently.

I think Yamaha is still the number 1 brand however.

I took an extended ride with the handle bars rolled forward to max indicated... better but the clutch lever would need lifting...

Standing up felt much better and could hold more of an attack stance without feeling like tipping over the bars...

I think I will roll back the bars closer a squeak and the levers should be about perfect where they are.

I've done over 200km on my trip meter with an indicated 3.8lt per 100km and half a tank of gas on the meter.

How accurate that is I don't know. But I'm only keeping revs at around 4000rpm with very few peaks at 6000rpm.

I have not gone full song 8500rom yet.

Pulls up hills effortlessly even in 6th gear.

Should have had the 15t front sprocket as standard. Definitely going to try a test fit high seat during 1st service.

Outie555 YT channel 450MT content.

There a few moto vloggers and YT channels doing things with the 450MT Ibex now.

However I found Outie555's channel to be the more down to earth, honest bloke/average Joe experience.

He's probably a couple of months ahead of my journey with the bike so it's sort of a window into the future with mods and accessories.

Express Ali

Some bits came in...

MT450 kickstand foot.

Not a quad lock* mirror phone mount.

Not an ATLAS* throttle lock/cruise control

For the most part everything appears to work as intended.

I did have to modify the throttle lock gape for a better fit to the stock MT450 throttle grip.

Not sure if the lever bar rest alternative throttle locks might be better, but I'll see how it goes.

The phone mount also seems fine, Just depends on how dependable the adhesive pad is now.

Right now I'm on beans and rice till I pay back my sisters partial loan to get the bike paid in full.

Like i said before I'm still not sure about the tall seat just yet, I should have done a test fit at the showroom. Might do that on the first service.

After the most recent grocery detour mission on road when I got 55mph/80kph or faster the wind shield seamed to deflect the air just under the peak of my Bell helmet making it flutter/vibrate...So I might look at upgrading the windscreen to something a bit bigger.

Ive got some aliexpress bits on way but nothing major just stocking fillers...
