Have you completely removed the cable assembly from the bike, pulled it out of the sheath and cleaned and lube both pieces?
May want to try it. I did that to my Q when I first brought it home, hoping to delay the 'inevitable cable snap' and so far so good. I've now checked with three different bikes, at 30, 40 and 50 and I've been the same speed as two of them. I was only off by 3 mph on the 3rd bike. I'm thinking that there may be tons of cable drag and resistance with these from dried goo, as they all usually sit years before we buy them. Also, many of these bikes read in KPH, like mine. The MPH is the little numbers.
