Just bought a 2005 pit bike, need some answers..

2005 pit bike, I am not sure what brand, but I am assuming it might be a coolster since the side panel has a sticker that says cool but really rubbed off. Is there any way to tell what brand it is?

You should have a 17 Digit VIN number on the steering neck..... Post the First 3 Digits, if it was imported into the USA I can tell you who manufactured it.

Okay washed the pit bike, rode the pit bike, love the pit bike. I bought it for $225.00 and it came with 2 pairs of riding boots, 1 chest protector. It only needed a new tire right of the bat. What can I do to this for a little more pep?

What size engine? Should be stamped on the cylinder?

Its a 125, the tranny is strage though N-down 1-2-3-4. It def is going to take sometime to get used to. Here is a pic of the bike with the new plastics.

Exhaust already looks like a decent one. Probably need to use a bigger carb and pod filter. Then maybe a performance cdi box. Make sure it has a good NGK sparkplug.

You could install a smaller countershaft sprocket too.

Ok, does anybody have an idea of what ngk spark plug to use or what oil is recommended? I usally use Rotella 15w-40... Also I am still trying to find out the exact model I have. I think its a jumper but I am not 100% sure.

The Rotella will be fine. I used a C7HSA when it's cooler out or a C8HSA when it's hot.

What rear shock can I use, the current one feels like I am riding a boat. I need a stiffer rear shock.

Have you tried cranking up the spring pressure?

The shock has little round holes (it looks like a special tool is need) I tried to use a allen wrench and hammer but the metal is to soft.

Hi dsmisfits

OK, the first 3 {QMC} digits on the NHTSA site bring back nothing. I had a bike very similar in my shop I replaced the performance ignition on. It has the same style perimeter frame, the same style exhaust pipe the comes off the head to the pipe. I did a VIN search on this young mans also & came back with nothing. There are obviously some of these bikes that came in the country illegally and have no listing with the NHTSA... = National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

There should be two nuts that are jammed together. You can use a large pair of pliers to loosen the outer nut, but make sure that they're the curved jaw style. It also helps to wrap a cloth around the shock or wrap the plier jaws in tape to prevent gouging.
