If I have any issues with my stock gauges or speedometer, I plan to add a Trail Tech kit too. My TT-R will definately get one.

I dont think that gauge set would just bolt right up but it might just plug right into the wiring.IDKFS(I had seen that on EBAY earlier)

I put a trailtech Vapor on the wifes raptor and it works great.
These trailtech computers are not terribly vehicle specific.

The tach sensor is just a wire wrapped around the coil wire and the engine temp sensor replaces the spark plug seal/washer.
It gets power from most any source or just its own lithium battery(limits backlighting that way though)
The speed sensor is the most involved but still very easy to set up since they supply a magnetic bolt and a free/loose magnet to epoxy if the magetic bolt can not be used.


Lots of nice features and the install went OK.
We have/use walkie-talkies with helmet mics/speakers and handle bar PTT buttons and they work good but we also need to have gps units, OK we dont NEED gps but it would be useful .


I just wish someone made a modular-combination computer/comm/gps unit for under $450.

So you'd have a LCD screen that shows engine vitals then hit a button and you change to the gps screen and all along have some common useful info displayed around the border such as comm channel, engine & air temp, time...etc..

Here is the new GPS unit I have been looking at for a possible Trans-America Trail trip, I'd like to take on my TT-R250. The Rino 530HCx uses Micro SD cards for MapSource map loading. It has the ability to show your position and the position of others in your party on the map relative to each other. This unit is also waterproof and has an FRS/GMRS radio, a GPS navigator, barometric altimeter, electronic compass and NOAA weather radio built in. It is a complete all-in-one unit that has features that many other units do not have. The downside is that in order for others to see your location and for you see their location, everyone needs to have this same unit or a compatible unit. Most will never spend this much for something they don't feel is important. It's a gadget or just another gizmo... until you get lost! Make one wrong turn and you could be miles away from your buddies in a few minutes. These unit would make that less likely.

The Rino 530HCx costs $535.70 retail. That's not bad considering what the unit will do and what it will replace in your gear. One do-it-all unit is lighter than carrying around separate FRS/GMRS radios, a GPS unit, and a NOAA radio. I'm sure it can be had for a lot less if you shop around.

The Trail Tech computer used in conjunction with the Rino 530HCx would be all that you would ever need. That's the way I'm going for my TAT bike!

It may be costly but the price of being able to communicate to others your riding with is worth it.

I'll have to look into those.

My wife had a hard time finding me over little sand hills.(we need those )

I think these radios are well worth investing it. I may have to sell something and buy a couple.

Anybody need a good cheap GPS unit? Mine may be up for sale! If so I'll post it in the For Sale section.

I agree with the communication thing. We used the little fmrs radios while travelling in convoys and also out hiking. I would be interested in a helmet mounted setup.

I am sure that those rhinos are available cheaper and prices always come down.

I have one of the Nolan N-Com helmets that is Bluetooth compatible. Chatterbox has just released a new Bluetooth wireless radio. I need to look into that but haven't yet.

The low-buck alternative is to duct tape kite string to each helmet (they act like old tin cans) and talk away.
Just keep the string tight and the range is as long as the string so set it to your preference.

Anyway. I think the PTT button on the handlebar will work for me. I currently don't have anybody to ride with.
