Pitster Pro, LXT 400, Technical Support Information
As with many others, I was interested to learn more about the origins of the Pitster Pro, LXT 400/Xingyue engine. I was also interested to learn about possible parts compatibility of the Pitster Pro, LXT 400 with Japanese motorcycles. Since at one point I was considering buying an LXT 400, I decided to conduct some research, and to see what I could discover.
Instead of buying an LXT 400, I subsequently decided to buy a used, Honda, XR650L motorcycle. Therefore, I have stopped researching the Xingyue/Pitster Pro, LXT 400. However, I wish to share the information I have discovered. I hope Pitster Pro/Xingyue owners will find this information useful. LXT 400 Engine The LXT 400 engine appears to be a hybrid consisting of a Rotax top end, and a modified, Honda, XR250R bottom end. The Xingyue/LXT 400 cylinder, and cylinder head, appear to be taken from a Rotax Type 400 EFI engine. Xingyue has substituted a carburetor for the fuel injection, but the rest of the engine’s top end appears to be genuine, Chinese Rotax. http://www.rotax.com/en/Engine/2004/...ine.Models.htm The bottom end of the Xingyue engine appears to be a modified, Honda, XR250R engine. This seems reasonable, since Xingyue manufactures the XR250GY motorcycle, which is also sold in the United States as the Hanissi HA250D. http://www.xingyue.us/product_gd.php?id3=183#pic http://www.hanissi.com/db.html#dbs Xingyue has keep the Honda kick starter, and added an electric starter to the left side of this 250cc motorcycle. It appears Xingyue has taken the bottom end of the XY250GY engine, relocated the oil filter, and added a water pump to support the Rotax top end. The following evidence supports this theory. The Pitster Pro LXT 400 appears to employ a Honda, XR250R countershaft sprocket. The Xingyue/Pitster motorcycle also employs a Honda, XR250R oil filter. LXT 400 Rear Frame, and Swingarm The Xingyue/LXT 400 swingarm, lower shock linkage, and rear frame also appear to copy the Honda, XR250R motorcycle. Since the Honda XR250R, and Honda XR400R motorcycles share the same frame, plastic, and suspension components, some of these rear, Honda parts might be compatible with the Pitster Pro LXT 400. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_XR_series LXT 400 Air Box Since the Xingyue/LXT 400 carburetor attaches to the air box on the left side of the motorcycle, it differs from the Honda XR250R/XR400R. In this respect, the air box might share some similarities with the Suzuki, DR-Z400 motorcycle. Service Manuals The Rotax 400 Engine Shop Manual is available for sale online. This manual should help LXT 400 owners perform valve adjustments, obtain parts, and repair the Rotax top end of their engines. I have an electronic copy of this Rotax service manual for sale. If you are interested in buying my copy of this service manual, please send me a personal message. The Honda XR250R Service Manual is available at several websites as a free download. For example, you can obtain the XR250R service manual at the following link. http://xr650r.barbershack.com/Download.html This Honda service manual should help LXT 400 owners with questions concerning seat removal, rear plastic, the rear suspension, the swingarm, et cetera. Summary I hope the information provided in this thread gives LXT 400/Xingyue owners a good start learning to maintain their new motorcycles. I hope my research, and conclusions, are accurate. However, if I have made any errors in this thread, please correct me. I am currently learning to support my recently acquired, used, Honda, XR650L motorcycle; therefore, I will not be conducting any further research on the Xingyue/LXT 400. However, to the extent my Honda XR650L shares similarities with the Honda XR250R/XR400R, I will be happy to share that information with LXT 400 owners. Spud

Excellent detective work! I have a '96 XR200R in the garage, and it never occurred to me to compare it with the Pitster Pro LXT400. I would be happy to photograph whatever anybody needs to know about my bike.
Spud, X3 on the 650 pics!

so how hard would it be to do a efi conversion on this motor ?
would you have to swap heads for the fuel injecter port ? if not sounds like it would be a short list. cpu wiring harness throttle body maybe the intake manifold

Great to hear about the XR Spud! Will this be in addition to the Zong or a replacement?
Wonderful bike. A big big on the trail but with your experiance and the open nature of the trails by you you'll be fine. PLUS it will be nice for you to be pon a bike that has so much power for when you're on the road.
