What is it....really?

Last night, I was enjoying a cold Miller Lite at my workbench....listening to some old southern rock. The weather was perfect. I looked up at my collection of manuals and reading material and thought, "There's no better time than the present to get a chuckle out of reading my poorly translated new China bike owners manual." I have really yet to do it....so I started leafing through it.

One of the things that has always been a question is "What is it....really?"
I've always refered to my new bike as a Lifanoid, (I won't tell you everyone really calls it) a term I picked up here. Seemed to fit. It's a Honda clone, looks like a Lifan but probably isn't one....or who really knows?
I do know that both mellisann's and my bike are listed as X-moto's on the origin cert.....and are identical with the exception of the forks. I always figured that X-moto was the importer of the 'seemingly generic' China bike and nothing more.

After reading the first few pages of the manual enjoying phrases like, "Thank you for your purchasing motorcycle" and other gems, I hit the warranty. My eyes just about bugged out of my head! :o
Here is a manual, for my exact bike....pictures and all. It says:

"In the interests of reliability and safety, you are advised to have your machine serviced at the specific intervals by an appointed Zongshen dealer...." It goes on to say, "Your Zongshen dealer will arrange to deliver your machine to a CBT centre if required."

Could this be true????? 8O Could my Lifanoid/X-moto/Honda clone really be a Zong? Have I woken up this morning, being unknowingly sucked into the Cult? :?

Zongshen manufactures a lot of the engines employed by the Lifanoid motorcycles.

I believe my quad is a Zong motor and it looks different (or is) than the Sierra powerplant. I think Zongshen is the largest engine manufacturer in China so it makes sense they'd make a couple different designs. If not a lot.

That's hilarious! I wonder what a publec road is? (I'm assuming that we all know that RUM means Restricted Use Motorcycle).

My Lifanoid Beast quad clearly says Zongshen on it. Zongshen doesn't just manufacture the Yamaha TW200 engine.

I'm a member of the Cult of the Zong.

My atv had a water cooled zongshen engine, but it's gone, so I guess I'm out of the club...

Both my Beast and my sons Mini-Beast say Zongshen on the cases... I think Zong is assimilating the world!

P.S. On a side note, my MTD snowblower has a "Powermore" engine on it... Made by Zongshen...

I was under the impression that Zongshen and Loncin made the majority of the motors. I will probably be corrected, It happens often

Resistance is futile.

No, you are correct-ish. Loncin engines have been utilized alot lately in the Apollo, Galaxy, and Pitster bikes (the 'claimed' 250cc water-cooled engine as well as the 223cc air-cooled engines, such as those used in the same bikes above and the Hensim that has been written about lately)

However, I do think that Zongshen are used the most, while the Loncins have been more high-profile lately.

I've always assumed pushrod motors are Lifanoid but maybe Zong makes them too.

I don't really know what half of us are riding, but they're all fun.

Even without the rum.

BTW, sitting in the garage and drinking beer listening to rock reading a manual is like Heaven.
