Is it my imagination or..
is the Zong speedo off? It seems accurate until I get to about 25 mph then it seems like it starts getting off. Then, the faster I go, the more it seems inaccurate. When I feel I am going 55-58 the speedo reads nearly 70!
Is this due to my poor judgement or can anyone vouch for this as well? |

Nope, it's not your imagination... Most people report their speedo's being about 10% optimistic. I think that more or less applies to all china bikes, my Konker seems to be going slower than indicated as well though I have never checked it's accuracy.

I'm guessing that whichever speedometer they used was designed for a different diameter front wheel.
BTW, bicycle computers are cheap and easy to install. Buy a backlit version (ask me how I know ).

Don't feel bad. I've taken my cable out, lubed it, remounted everything and even with my new gearing, wide open in 5th, tears running back into my ears, tucked under the bars, my poor little Lifanoid only tops out at 32 mph according to my speedo! 8O 8)

I am now running a 21-inch front wheel on my Zong. Today I checked my speedometer versus the speed displayed on my Garmin GPS receiver; the speeds were the same. I must admit, I don't know how accurately a GPS receiver calculates speed. However, I was going by a highway radar display the other day, and it also indicated the same speed as my speedometer. My odometer, however, now seems to be 10 percent "pessimistic;" it records 0.9 mile for every mile traveled! I figured the odometer would be accurate if the speedometer were accurate; however, I guess I was wrong. :? Spud
