Finnaly found a C.A.R.B cerified dual sport, pulled trigger

Hello All,
I have been lurking here for a few months. I really enjoy reading all the informative posts and have learned allot. We California riders really don't have allot of choices for dual sport Chinese bikes because our regitration laws are so strict. To obtain a green sticker to ride off road the bike needs to be California Air Resources Board certified (C.A.R.B) I could find no Lifan or Roketa bikes that were certified but finally found one called Viva here.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/200cc...QQcmdZViewItem

The bike ended up costing me $1067 local pickup with a one year extended warranty. The shop did charge a $40 local pick up fee and a 3% credit card transaction fee. I can understand the CC fee because there is not much profit in the bike but the $40 pick up fee is a little shady
I will be picking up the bike Friday and will let everyone know about the shop and after sale service. Allot of company's market their service on eBay as being good, but I have found this is rarely the case. I purchased a Coolstar 125cc ( Honda 50cc clone) for my son at Christmas and it has given us problems from day one. Last year we purchased a 90cc Kazuma Mini Falcon and it has been great. I am crossing my fingers with the Viva and am a little worried after reading the almost killed me post :? I will most definitely print out the prep guide and grease my swing arm.

Wow, it's costing me $1029 (free shipping)...and I live in Montana. But that's no sales tax & no extended warranty. And yours was probably assembled.

Keep us posted on how you like it! Hopefully mine will be here early next week  Keep your fingers crossed for NO MARCH BLIZZARDS!

Wow you guys got good deals. I work at a place where we sell Lifans and mine cost me a little more than that.

Hello Pauli,

Sounds like you got a great deal. Mine was $899+ Local pick up fee $40+
3% credit card fee $29 + $99 one year warranty Total $1067 no assembly. I want to assemble it myself because I will Locktight all the nuts and bolts. Did you purchase this from the same dealer?

What color did you go with? I ordered the blue but may change to black when I get to the warehouse. It’s very hard to determine what color the blue is because they have three different shades of blue on the eBay Ad, one flat light blue, one dark glossy blue and one medium glossy blue. The picture of the bike profile is flat blue, the photo of the instrument cluster is medium glossy blue and the bike photo at the top of the Ad is dark glossy blue. The same is true for the color red, one flat and one glossy. I almost purchased a used Honda but decided to go with this after reading all the posts here.

Regards,
-Ray

Ray,
Welcome to the site...
I would have to say that the last 2 pics at the bottom of the ad before the guy doing the wheelie on the XR is closest to the blue that your bike will be, the plastics on these bikes are originally white and they are painted at the factory, alot of us here just repaint them anyway, good luck and if you have any questions feel free to ask...

I ordered from www.dirtbikeswholesale.com

I think they're the US distributor. They have 4 or 5 sites that are just about the same. I ordered red, with black being my 2nd choice. My boyfriend has a klr650 that's red, and I've 'inherited' some of my riding gear from him.

I was looking at the Lifan, since so many people seem happy with them, but the lowest price I could find was still about $400 more than the Viva. And either way, we have NO local dealers up here.

Hi,
Thanks for the welcome ambassador, if that blue is the true color I will be happy I just can’t see my self on the flat neon blue version. I am sure I will have a few questions LOL. Here is my first. Is their any decent quality 19-24 foot toy haulers in the under $20k price range?

Regards,
-Ray

how is it that the viva is CARB approved but none of the other GY200's are? they are all using that fml163 engine, so how would they differ? maybe a different exhaust? it looks to be the same one from the other vivas and the rocketas...

stranggggeeee... good luck tho, i hope everything works out for you! and i know you will enjoy riding it!

It's because they paid into California's extortion fund There is actually little or no difference between the motors, If the importer pays the bribes....oops I mean 'fees', then this socialist, corrupt, extortionist state grants the blessed C.A.R.B. certification.

And welcome Morespl,

Sorry for the rant there, been dealing with this state for a while now.
I notice you're in SoCal as well. I ride out here in the Mojave. Where are you planning on riding?

We're out at Stoddard Wells pretty regularly.

RookieBiker--
Yes, there seem to be many differences between the pics & the text on the dirtbikeswholesale site.

The Best Hobby Shop (on e-Bay) has these specs, which seem to match the pics:
200cc Enduro Street Bike Specifications
Motor Power 200CC 4 Stroke
Front Brakes Disc
Max Power 7.3Kw[9000/rpm]
Rear Brakes Disc
Starting Method Electric / Kick
Max Torque 14.5N . M ± 10%[6500r/min]
Ignition CDI
Wheel Base 50.78"
Horsepower 15 HP
Front Wheel Size 21"
Transmission 5 Speed, 1-down 4-up
Rear Wheel Size 18"
Speed 70 MPH
Ground Clearance 13"
Gas Tank 8.5 Liters
Max. Rider Weight 350 lbs
Front Suspension Dual Shock
Rear Suspension Mono Shock
Drive System Chain
Seat Height 34"
Net Weight 280 lbs
Dimensions 85 x 33 x 48 inch

I'm hoping it's just a matter of no one actually taking the time to update the specs on the the site I used...oh well, I'll let you guys know when it gets here. I plan on picture-documenting the entire thing from arrival to ready-to-ride.

Do any of these Chinese bikes have MPH speedo's?

it seems as tho most of the newer batches of chinabikes coming over have mph speedo's and km odometers...

but the speedo's tend to read 5mph faster then you are actually going..

so you may want to have someone pace you when you get your bike together to get an idea of what yours is reading at.

There are many C.A.R.B. certified dirt bikes out there, but only for green stickers, not on-road. www.ls-motorsports.com claim their Diamo is C.A.R.B. legal for street riding, but a Diamo is pretty much a Zongshen, and are fairly expensive. As far as C.A.R.B. legal/green sticker is concerned, Jetmoto, Lifan, Viva, and a few others claim to be...and 'liverchip' just bought a strictly off-road TMS Shineray 200 dirt bike that is green stickered for Calif.
