Keepin it real in Rochester NY
Been snoopin around the site for a while now, and have picked up some real valuable info. Appreciate the time and effort involved with maintaining the site. MY kick ass wife suprised me with a 2006 TMS GY200 for Christmas, and despite upsate NY weather have managed to rack up 300 miles on it already. My buddy turned me on to these bikes a while back, and was intending on buying one in the sprng so we could both sneak off for a smoke break and get some seat time without trailering bikes, or being confined to streets. VERY happy with the bike overall. I have onwed, wrenched on, and rode bikes for about 20 years now, so I had realistic expectations. Biggest complaint, a sewing machine sounding engine, and some nearly impossible to locate rattles. Biggest suprise, very quiet pipe, sips fuel, decent fit and finish. It is sweet for buzzing around town and trails. I REALLY like this bike. (Anyone want an cool Vintage XL250? lol)
Thanks for the nice forum to help educate folks out there. I think these bikes are great for the money, but you need a place like this to research the little "issues" with them. |

Welcome! It's nice to find out others with extensive bike experience being surprised at the value vs quality aspects of these babies.

hey AJ, if you want to spend like 15-20 bux you can make your bike sound a whole lot better and give it a bit more oomph....
drilling the exhaust, take your air box out and put on a uni pod filter/sock filter, moving the c-clip on the carb to the richest setting and then fiddling with the air/fuel screw, you will notice a bit better top speed, a little better acceleration and also a MUCH improved exhaust tone.. if you want to see some pics, check out my gallery or do a search on the dual sport forum.
