Hawk 250 DLX motor replacement
Engine seized recently, looking to replace.
Given that I've got the DLX, is buying a factory replacement of the original motor my only practical option? I assume switching to a carb motor would require a new wiring harness and some additional fuel system purchases. I'd prefer a "plug and play" situation as much as possible. I have shop space and skills, but my time and budget are limited. Considering this motor. Thanks as always, everyone. |

any cg250 should be fine. though you might have to swap the head if it has sensors. i don't think there is major difference in stator wire configuration.
So any parts that need EFI should be swap over onto a new cg250 if you don't mind some DIY. But to answer the question if you want plug and play then you will need to replace like for like... |

Right on, makes sense. Will look into the cg250 but might take the easy road. Thanks! |

The CG250 is what is in the HAWK 250. Which is the push rod OHValve type. There is also the CB250 which is the overhead cam type OHC.
There are some newer engines like the PR250 with 6 speeds and balance shafts... but the more you step away from the oringal platform the more complexity you come across... that being said most of these engines all share the same main bolt rear engine mounts dimensions. CG250 are even sold in Walmart....so getting a replacement isn't that hard. |
