Strange situation...

OK, first off, I received my Hi-Bird yesterday! My brother (the Wizzard) stopped by and basically built the thing while I helped (handed him tools etc.). It's all together now, and we went for a little trail ride today in Tonawanda, NY. We were having a good time tooling through the trails and while my brother (on his quad) went down a trail that was a bit much for the enduro, I rode down a less technical trail for an easy turn-around to meet back up with the bro.

OK, here comes the strange part. While a was looking for a better spot to turn around (mind you, we are in the middle of nowhere...probably a good mile and a half - 2 miles from ANYTHING), up ahead on the trail I see a little old mad, BUCK NAKED staring @ me while holding a freakin saw (the kind we used to cut our Christmas tree down with).

Quickly, I turn around and go back to find my bro. I then tell him he has to ge down the same trail I was just on because he will not believe what he see's. So, as I watch, he goes down the same trail and all of a sudden, I see him do a quick U-turn and cruise back to me. He pulls along side of me and we look @ each other dumbfounded (WTF!!!).

We then notice the same old guy (wearing a small towel now), walking towards us carrying the saw. Needless to say, we get the hell out of there.

What would you guys have done in the same situation?

I usually have my gun with me...no, I wouldn't have pulled it out and shot him, or at him, or warning shots, nor pulled it out, but I would have tried to ascertain his doings and going ons, and if it was a body he was cutting up, taken him into custody. There are many cases of weirdos doing weird things to people out there, and then dumping their bodies, but I would have tried to figure out if he was harmless or harmful. The police should have been notified if you didn't have a weapon (sounds like you didn't), and perhaps still should be notified now, but only after going back and see if there is anything suspicious enough to contact them for.

The place we were was kind of "off-limits"...meaning, we were tresspassing (kinda-sorta). Do you think I should go back to scope things out? I'd rather not go back and find anything and then try to explain what we saw and why we didn't report it earlier.

I think you should give an anonymous report to the police, just in case he is a crazy psycho killer...

I think we have a cop or two on here...what do they think?

I think that he may have ran out of his house to try to protect his property. Don't know he would try it naked though.

Watch the news to see if anyone turns up missing.

I would have confronted him if I had at least one companion along. I also typically carry pepper spray, in those type of environments. So, I would approach him with my spray in hand.

After re-reading the 1 mile from anything comment I would be alittle suspect.

I almost all ways have a gun handy. But even if I didnt, I would have asked him what he was up to. If hes neked he probably isnt hiding a weapon. And if he is, well never mind. Thats CRAZY!
