All of the fun for a fraction of the price!

You know, I grew up in a disadvantaged situation, as I suspect many of you did as well. So, when I see other people who would get a lower cost bike such as these, they might say things like 'Oh, I wish this was better' or 'I wish this was different', and they would focus solely on the negative. (I know some)

However, as a kid who had to struggle like we all did, I always tried to focus on the positive. I know that might sound wishy-washy and crazy, but the truth is, when I look at my $1700 bike, I don't see something that I wish was better. I see something that I'm glad to have. I don't know what else to say except that you've got to appreciate what you have in life, no matter what it is.

Exactly!

I don’t even have a good bike anymore according to the forum tastes. Everybody dumped their Xpect. I couldn’t be happier with mine still.

Apparently it sucks compared to all of the other bikes these days, but whatever. It works for me.

The X-pect doesn't suck at all. Different bikes for different purposes.

There were times when I was a kid the only thing we had for supper was crackers and peanut butter. When I became an adult and had a fairly decent job I was ecstatic to be able to buy a cheap, but brand new, car. Time passed and with a better job I was able to buy better cars and even motorcycles to play with.

Now in my retirement I still buy inexpensive new cars and bikes, and even what some might call "cheap" bikes. But I have learned there is a thing called value and sometimes a cheap price doesn't mean a cheap product. And I consider my Lifan to be a very good value for price paid.

Oh... and I have never forgotten the peanut butter and cracker days. Never will.

I have a great one actually.

We had so little money at one point that my goldfish died because his water froze - IN MY ROOM.

It was a really old house. Older than the United States. The windows would rattle in the snow storms and snow would come in around the edges of the windows. It was not sealed. There was some kind of counterweight inside of the window frames and some rope that holds the top of the windows. So it slides up and down really easily. But it would rattle and it was loose.

It was actually a really cool house in retrospect. One of the Revolutionary War generals lived there. Or at least his wife did while he was off fighting. And guess what they found in the house next-door when I was a kid?

They were upstairs doing some work to remodel and this wall that didn’t make any sense. They started to take the wall out and there were two red coat uniforms perfectly preserved in the wall! These were the neighbors of the Revolutionary War wife!

When I was growing up, all I wanted was a roof over my head, and enough to eat. I think I took every job I could get, until I had a good job and companies started recruiting me because of my work ethic. People like that are hard to find anymore, but it used to be the normal.

I've had some expensive transportation, but I love my Chinese bikes.

I like the X-pect, I had one on layaway but when this Hawk came up for sale on the site I knew that I could get it and still have money left over from what I'd paid on my layaway. Then I took the difference and used it for insurance, taxes, a helmet, and stuff. Nobody can deny the great experience you've had with yours!

Smile just rolled over 1000 on the odometer

Took the bike on another joy ride. So far I've changed the oil twice and put a 17 tooth on the front.

This bike has literally changed my life fellas. I haven't had a vehicle of my own since my van blew up in 2010. Since then I've been bumming rides from family and friends and using bus and walking.

Now I can make a run to the store if I need to and I can show up to this summers family events without begging for a ride. People are probably okay with it, but it makes me feel crappy to do it.

I could not be happier at the moment. I've been able to explore many of the back roads I grew up joy riding on and make some trips to local spots.

like I said, all the fun for a fraction of the cost....
