Modded the exhaust finally.

I bought a used honda CRF150/230 aluminum silencer on ebay. $30 shipped.

Requires some modifications and is not a direct fit.

I cut the stock muffler off where it flares out to the exhaust pipe and then needed to slobber a spacer onto the stock pipe so that the crf pipe would fit tightly over it and clamp on. The muffler bolted on to the stock frame mount.

It is louder than the stocker and doesn't have a spark arrester. I think I will keep my eye out for a quiet insert/spark arrester for the honda muffler.

I have noticed an increase in power though. I also removed the airbox lid and cleaned the stock filter. A new UNI pod is the next mod.

It is alittle lean so I think I will need to increase the main jet size.

The best part is it now sounds like a much larger bike.

Highway speed the noise is about the same.

I have used 2 stroke packing. I guess it would work on these if you dont over pack it. Its cheap too.

I thought about drilling out the rivots and repacking it. The quiet inserts look like they could be made. It is not that loud, but if I could quiet it some it would be nice.

Better than the ratty stocker.

Good silencer material is house hold fiberglass insulation. Wrap it loosely around your core tube with some wire. Works great, it just eventualy needs a fresh repac once in a while.
Hey Kato, are those Duro tires on your bike? How do they compare to the stock CST's?

Thanks. Plenty of insulation available in new subdivision dumpsters.

Yep those are duros. On road the duros are great. No comparison to the CSTs.

Off-road they are decent, but the CST did better in certain terrain.

Hey Allen, did you know your front tire is mounted on backwards? If you check the sidewall, I am pretty sure your direction arrow is going the wrong way. Just an FYI.

Red it is the right way. I confirmed it win I installed it.

I put that DR tank on a few weeks ago when the stocker started leaking again.

I want to mount it better and paint it yet, but this is my daily driver.

Cool! I only asked because I just mounted up a Bridgestone Trail Wing on the front of mine this weekend. It has the identical tread pattern as your Duro Median (which I am mounting on the rear of my bike this weekend) and mounts the other way, like most directional tires do on the front. They mount in what appers to be reverse so the tread has more bite for brakeing. Good deal, ride on!

I checked to make sure it was right and the brake rotor was on the right side before it mounted it.

Remember this is a taiwan tire so the arrow was probably put on backwards.

On a side note, what kind of mileage are you getting out of those Medians? I only got 2200 miles on the stockers, and my front was badly cupped, and the rear is at the wear bars.

The rear has 2600 miles and is about half worn. The front has about 1000 miles and I can't see any wear yet.

I think 5-6K from the rear. My stock rear went to 3400 miles.

Thanks for the info! Back on topic, I like your muffler mod. Good choice of muffler. My YZ250F muffler sounds pretty mean for a little 200. Nice job!

It no longer sounds wimpy and like it been smokin two packs a day.

I played with changing the opening size on the tailpipe and I can reduce the noise output without changing the sound much. Will make my own insert.

It actually thumps mow.
