Sputters& Pops

Hey gang!

Why after 4 years would “The Storm” start literally out of the blue surging and stalling at high RPM’s?

I tried switching to my spare CDI but it changed nothing. Lowered the float a mm in the ol’ V26 and all that did was make the exhaust pop super loud. Jets and everything is all clean so I’m stumped!

The bike will idle and run low thru the mid RPM ranges for forever. Air Pod I changed to new just because and I haven’t moved the needle height or rejetted since the bike was new and dialed in. I was planning on replacing the V26 anyways as last month it developed a little bowl drip if you leave the pedcock on.

a high rpm surge/stall to me sounds like either fuel starvation or an air/vacuum leak.

So I would start to inspect the fuel lines, tank cap, screens, filters, gaskets and manifolds...

I agree with XLsior. Have you checked valve adjustment?

Could the coil fail to keep up at higher discharge frequencies? Coils are cheap. Nibbi for $20 to test this theory...
