More Stability?

I lowered the triplclamp on mine by 1/2 inch and it helped a bit. Which sounds backwards, but it worked.

Changing to street tires will help some too. I really noticed a difference after switching out the front tire.

These things are just not heavy enough for that speed, but I still do it.

My bike had really loose steering head when it came out of the crate. The handling felt wierd, until I tightened the steering head up. Now, I feel my bike is stable even at 80 MPH.

Yeah usually the front tire will be alot flatter(less knobage) if its DOT, the rear one too....helps with steering for sure, I agree these bikes are pretty slick with the steering when you first get them.......

My gy5 was great, the gy6 gets a bit of a speed wobble at about 105 to 110 or so.

I've only really gotten my bike up to about 55mph, and it rides fine and smooth. The only problem I have, like I metioned before, is right in the middle of maxing out on fifth gear, I have this loud buzzing noise, then it goes away. Can't figure it out though.

Oh also, this may be off the subject of high speeds, but I found the source of my constant low buzz. It wasn't annoying, but it sounds way better without it. I noticed a bolt about 8" that goes through the bottom of the motor that was missing the nut to tighten it. I'll have to replace the nut, but without it, the bolt would just rattle like crazy. Glad I noticed it.

Yeah I was talking in KM's... Glad you found the issue with that buzz, good to keep an eye on the motor mount bolts.

im using mph with my new sprocket I can hit 70 mph. I think the stock tires are the biggest source of my wobble. Will replace with more of a street tire when I can. Thanx guys

Your rims might not be perfectly round? Prop the front end up and spin the tire. Look at the distance between the ground and the bottom of the tire. Does that gap vary as the tire spins? It's usually more of a problem at slower speeds and goes away at higher speeds but you never know?

Mav, do a search on the motor mounting bolts.

Those are the biggest source of vibes with these bikes.

Put it on your to do list. The bolts are not very expensive.

Alright, sure thing. Um, what I described isn't the swingarm bolt, is it? And yeah, I live with my mom and she doesn't have any tools so as soon as I get the chance I'm going to take the bike to my mom's ex-husband's house and do a full out inspection. After that I'll just head over to my local hardware store and replace the faulties.

However, I still haven't found the source of my brief high speed buzz?

Mav if you can get a wrench and check to see if they are even tight, the problem might go away, for a while. When you're ready, find out if you can use a bolt 1 size thicker on your engine mounts. Its easy. 1 at a time, loosen the nut, pull the bolt out about 1/8" or just enough to see if the hole is way too big for the bolt. If it's the right size locktite it and move to the next engine mount bolt. If the hole is too big, use a bolt that fills the hole better so there is less slippage.
