New Xi 350 Trail bike Taiwan import

Some guy down the road is opening up a Red Cat dealership so I thought I'd scout what they can get and this bike comes up in the line up of Red Cat/Tank bikes. Has the old Honda twin exhaust ports, 227lbs dry and 58" wheel base. THAT spells FUN..... just don't know the $$ amount

imoose told me that this bike does'nt have good support,ie: parts warranty etc...,

that bike comes from tandem-motors in china , or ? , probly imported to china and vise versa, distributors can pick it up on HQ container for about $1900 even i'll have to check again but i'm sure i'm close,
then add your shipping , dealer prep fee'$, the GEfloor cost and so on ,

out the door from a dealer i would guess to get it on the street at about $2450 or so, up or down a $100

When I first heard of these bikes I emailed a dealer about cost and when they would be here and was told $3K and date still unkown for sure.

I think we'd have to get them HERE first and then all the rest will fall into place.Of course that is just one dealer and the things arent even here yet so it could (most likely will) change.

But still at $3K that is just to close to the cost of a DRZ400S.(for me atleast-others view will vary )

I'd buy an XL650 used before spending 3G's on a Tank.

I don't see turn signals on that thing either. (maybe they're small?) 8O

I haven't heard anything new about those 300cc D/S's...........DD!

I'm really getting into the whole "smileys" thing!

I think this  is the only one I haven't used yet. Until now.

The engine looks similar to the Suzuki DR350, doesn't it?

I think...it's simply what the others have eluded to already. At $3k, I can buy used Jap 650's all day long. At the $2500 price you mentioned it's a bit more of a choice between a used Jap or new China dual sport, but when you consider parts and support, the favor swings back in the direction of the used Jap bikes.

The LF200 is roughly $1500...so the larger displacement China bikes will need to fall in at no more than $1000 more, or it has to compete with the larger used Jap bikes. And they may be able to win that battle eventually, but until the reputation is there, it will likely be a struggle.

As I say, that's just what I think...but I'm often wrong.

There is a recent, notable exception to this--the Qlink brand, and slowly, the Qingqi branded motard/enduro. Word is out, thanks to Crazy Carl, that Qingqi is the OEM for the Suzuki DR200se engine and frame, so now Qlink has sold out on their XF200 (okay, not saying that Carl is completely responsible for the sell-out, or even that his reporting the OEM connection to Suzuki is helping sell every bike ) but the reputation is there now, and the bike lists for $2k+--Chinese and all!

The xi and others are a much different matter. Lifan is gunning for "king of the heap" status by not introducing innovative models, but churning out and sending the same stuff, and eliminating non-AL bikes.

Shineray has two very cool models in need of importers.

Hi-Bird has a very durable 250cc and seems to be following the Chinese model well--sell the bike for a low price and gain market share, again, using quality.

That being said, Tanked is tanking, and introducing a (supposedly) Taiwanese 350cc enduro for over $3K will not help their cause.

Catastrophix--you should research the engine to see if it is a clone, or this 'xi' company is the OEM, for Suzuki. Actually, you should be credited with Carl for pointing out the Qingqi being Suzuki-engined, but we didn't have Qingqi's in the US when you first got your bike, or at least not on the scale of Qlink (I think Pioneer USA had them, but they were expensive--we didn't know they were worth it--and they folded)

??????? this bike 350cc dual is in my gallery,

the GE floor Kato can probly be better explained by Bruce @ ejcycles, since he has a pretty impressive floor plan.

Kymco told me to be one of there dealers i would need a ge floor, service bay with a qualified tech and a parts department,

if i had all that they would ship me all the products needed to start off with at no cost, then it got deeper in detail and i left it at that,

not really knowing but guessing at it i would say it probly has something to do with display of attraction, not plugged up with goddy stuff all over the place, i know you have to sell other stuff as well, but kymco wants there scooters to be seen first, yadda yadda yadda !!!!!!

sorta like a car dealer there floor is set up for displaying cars only.

so are you confused now 8O 8O 8O

i sure am

So DD, what about the Shinerays then?
XY250GYVII's? Like Supersignet's 200, but bigger.

Hell, if I could get my hands on one of those, I'd be pretty friggin' happy too.

Otherwise the Komoto 250 looks like the path.

Edit: Isn't there one of the bigger motorcycle tech schools in Vegas? Maybe you could call 'em to get a tech.
