New tbr 7 regular or synthetic

So I recently got me a tbr7 from Txpowersports. I’ve been riding it around my neighborhood or hood as I’m waiting on the temp tag from them. I changed the spark plug I deleted that damn flasher beep as I was goi g to cha he the oil but for some reason I seem to remember someone saying not to use synthetic oil until it’s well broken in or something. Should I use synthetic or just regular.

Just regular, you're wasting your money if you use synthetic, and also change it asap, they tend to shop with a corrosion preventative that really doesn't function as motor oil!

Since Herbie posted the link for the tt250, I had read on page 13 that says, "Do NOT use synthetic motor oil for the first 1000 miles."

Since all CG motors are basically the same, this is what I would do. I think member Megadan had a decent expose about this subject too.

I love threads that mention "oil".

Personally, my experience with rebuilding old engines, you only get a short window of less than 100 miles or less to get your engine to break in and your rings to seat (conform to the cylinder walls). A good slippery synthetic oil makes that more difficult. I use non-detergent 30wt conventional oil (walmart still sells it but its usually near the lawnmower stuff) to break in my engines. After about 100 miles or so I change it out for Rotella conventional oil. Then in about 500 miles or so I use more Rotella, either conventional or synthetic, or the blend.

I've noticed the synthetic sometimes makes my clutch squeal on my bike and my ktm powered quad, but it doesn't seem to hurt anything.

I run synthetic in all of my bikes. Will not cause any problems as long as it is wet clutch rated.

I also don't find it a waste of money. Longer change intervals or better at withstanding abuse without viscosity loss or lubricity.

That said, nothing wrong with mineral oil either. Just change the oil when it needs it.
