I have a lifan gy-5 and I want it to be louder!!! Is there a universal exhaust or muffler that will fit it?

Do a search here for "exhaust mod". There's lots of info about it.

I got an avation drill bit from canadian tire. About 18"long. Fatboy250's trick of drilling through the existing exhaust hole worked for me. The hole gets the air out faster, but looks stock. Same note, and volume at idle, nice when you hit the throttle. If you haven't hitch-hiked through my album, please do so. page 8 of the gallery.

Cheaper than a new pipe for sure.

I drilled mine out and think it sounds like a loud lawn mower now. I've heard other 200's with different pipes and they actually sound like a motorcycle.

Don't forget that we all hear things a bit differently.

I think I mentioned in that other thread that I consider my bike quiet, but I know I have hearing damage. Anyone who hears something that leaves their ears ringing, has suffered hearing damage as well. (Dare I say everyone?)

And this is why there is no correct answer to the age old question: Which speakers sound the best?
It's almost like trying to pick the best flavor of ice cream. It's obviously strawberry, right? 8)

Plus, IMO the only "performance" increase would be due to a reduction in weight. So, I just drilled mine. Took about 2min.

How often do you have to get it inspected?

I am also a bit confused but I think it has a lot to do with age and taste. The younger riders usually want a moderately loud exhaust with sporty looks and the older crowd usually wants stock sound levels or quieter and they don't care much for how sporty or new age the bikes look. Huge conflicting opinions and style based mostly on age. It also seems like the older crowd does way more on road type riding.

My bike is loud when I get on the gas but when idling its not any louder than a lawn mower actually less noisy.

I like my bike quiet too...I need as few people as possible to notice me on my bike so I can concentrate..... as long as they can see me.....I know some people like it loud because it makes em feel safer on the bike....kinda like a force field.Im opposite...My neighbour revs his fraggin truck all the time....I think hes on disability because he never actually takes it any where just tries to impress the kids with it.....I hope hes not suprised when a molotov cocktail comes flying through his window.....Bastich......lol
