Shineray XY200GY-7 update

Well, I've been riding the bike for about a month now and it's worked like a champ. After 2900km I have has zero problems with the bike. I did manage to bust one of the mounting bolts on my hand guards when I had a small off on an oily Chinese road.

The factory told me yestrday they're still ooking for an importer that is willing to import their bikes as the Shineray brand. When they find an importer who will do that and agree to their terms they will relase this bike and the new DOHC, watercooled 6speed X2 to North America.

Last week we took the bike down the vietnam border to get some coffee and some sun.

Enjoy the pics

AAARRRRRRRRGGHHH!!!!! That bike is perfect!

I've been toying with just getting something else. But I'll keep waiting.
There's just nothing out there that won't take a ton of mods to make it equal. Dang.

You'd think one of these dealers in the forum would want to sell them.
But maybe not, because then the rest of their inventory would start collecting dust.

The bike is DOT and EPA aproved. The factory is spinning it's wheels on getting an office opened in the states and is realy looking for an importer to bring the Shineray brand name into North America. Until that time or that person is found this bike will not be available for sale in North America.

It's too bad too, cause it is a great bike.

The factory also has a 26hp DOHC 250cc watercooled engine with 6 speed transmission in another bike that will be released for sale sometime around the end of June.

If anyone is interested in talking more about becoming an importer or getting more details send me a pm here or find me on skype ( mike_xiang1) and we can talk more about it.

Yes yes, the girl is beautiful.

BUT I....WANT....THE....BIKE !!!!!!!!!!

Is anybody out there willing to make money hand-over-fist by selling these?
Should I give up and hope the 300cc Loncin's make it over here first?

When I found this site, I thought it a good idea to read thru it for a month.
Then I said I'd just wait for my income tax return.
Now I'm trying to hold out for the Shineray or bigger cc's enduro.

So each night when the temperature drops down from 84 to 70 degrees, I get such a strong urge to go for a spin that I have have to at least go out and check my damn mailbox.
Do I have China-Fever?

Yes, the fever is hitting you hard! It's funny, because so many of us have commented on this bike, one of the usual mass importers (powersportsmax, etc) could have a 40 foot container loaded, and sold out within a month or two.

As far as the 300cc bikes- out of nowhere, Hi-Bird came out with a standard 250cc enduro in a "sea" of 200's, so there is hope. I had my money on Asiawing, but they seemed to fizzle out....

I like GY-7 very much. Unfortunately, my friends don't like it. They said it looks like it belongs in a WW2 museum. I have a feeling the GY-7 is one of those bikes that would have a rabid, but small, following if it is sold in the USA, but the typical enduro riders would probably prefer a more modern look--kind of like the cult car Miata.

GY-VII, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.......

Typical people are typically stupid.

1."Look at the dual rear shocks like it's still 1978!", they quip.

Mono-shocks are to save weight on race bikes. They are NOT more reliable. If you pop one of those duals, you could probably limp home. Pop your mono and you're walking.

2."Look at all the Mad Max racks and bars, looks stupid!", they'll add.

Yet they see nothing wrong with how milk crates, bungees, and twine look.

3."See the big stupid gas tank? What are you riding to Mexico?", they spout.

Yes. I just might.

4."Why would you want an army surplus bike?", they wonder.

Because armies always seek out the LEAST reliable designs for their vehicles. Um, duh!

Form should follow function. THAT is the art of engineering. Which is more attractive?: supermodel OR lady pro-wrestler?
Give me the gal that can "rassle" anyday! I'd just break the skinny one.

Ok, rant over.

When they import under the factory name, will they shut down private label Shineray importers?

The factory is unclear on this issue. I doubt however that they would shut down local importers. The company is serious about importing some of the models they thing would do well and not let other importers touch them. It is my understanding that importers would still be able to purchase some models from the factory.

Honestly though, it is better for everyone involved if the Chinese motorcycle companies come into the States and Canada as one brand companies. If they did this it would add security to buyer's minds and buyers wouldn't have to worry so much about what they were buying.

If an importer was to dump their own brand name and become partners with Shineray and use the Shineray name it could benefit both parties involved.
