No real connection to Hondas, other than looks. Maybe something, maybe, sort of, maybe..... :x

Nothing internally, for the most part. Externally, these things will bolt (with some help in some cases)in to a wide range of older Honda products.

Hello People

So far I've found the following honda parts fit directly onto my 1996 125 GY engine...

CRF 230 coil
XR 200 Carb
XR/CRF CDI

Still stuck on exhaust but some non standard XR 200 and the CRF 230 look pretty close.

http://www.motocrossworld.com/ have detailed parts drawings if anyone wants to take a look.

Hope that helps.

Mustang posted this link to the Honda CG125 service manual a while back:

http://imirror.org/files/Honda_CG125...ice_Manual.pdf

As i was going thru it i could see strong similarities to our pushrod engines.

'Cept for a few minor details that is

Honda's small displacement single cylinder OHC (Over Head Cam) engines, like the one in their CB125, had a weakness in their top end lubrication. Honda solved the problem over 30 years ago by designing an OHV (Over Head Valve) version. It doesn't rev quite as high or make quite as much power at the same displacement as the OHC version, but it is smaller, lighter and less expensive to manufacture.

It's a great design with broad appeal even today. Honda reports in their latest finacial results that their CG125 is not only still in production but increasing in worldwide sales.

Fun fact: all of Honda's "utility" line of ATVs have OHV engines.
