MPG questions: 250 Hawk

Greetings,
I am using the stock carburetor on my new Hawk. I have less than 100 miles on the bike. It runs fine but I feel like it doesn't get the gas mileage that I expect.

I know many others immediately upgrade to the Mikuni carburetor. If I upgrade to the Mikuni, will I see an increase in the MPG?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I think "results may vary" applies here. But if you're riding it like a civilized human, and the bike is stock, you should see 50-70 mpg. I dont ride mine like that at all, and see 30-40mpg...

Thanks. I suppose my next step will be to see exactly what my MPG is. So far it seems I'm adding more gas than I thought I should.

Sprockets, tires, tire pressures, your riding habits, even weather will all play a role. With more street friendly tires at street friendly pressures with around a 2.70ish sprocket ratio on a Hawk, with a well tuned carburetor 60mpg, give or take.

I achieved 74mpg on my first hawk with shinko 705s and 17/43 sprockets at a steady 55mph cruise speed with my tires at 32psi front and 38 rear. Bike simply had a mikuni clone, pod filter, and exhaust.

Dual sports aren't very fuel efficient machines simply due to their design.
