Which break-in oil, if any, should I use for my new Lifan X-pect?
Hope to get as much out of this bike as I can. I word it this way, because I'm still a little biased towards the idea that Chinese Bikes may not be an extremely reliable option. I hope to be proven wrong, so at the very least, I'm going to do everything I can to beat the odds of the past. Break-in oil isn't something I've ever had to think about. This will be the first "New Vehicle" purchase for me in my lifetime. Just wondering how important it is, and which oil would be best suited to these Chinese motorcycles. Willing to spend a little, after all, i saved $3k by not buying a tw200.

Just run a good non-synthetic 10w40 motorcycle oil design for wet clutch (JASO MA2) for the first few oil changes and you will be good. After about 1000 mile you can switch to a full synthetic if you want.
Brand doesn't really matter as long as it's designed for wet clutch. If you change your oil on a regular basic it won't matter what brand you use. Myself i use what is the less expensive. I've use Quick silver, Valvoline and even the Walmart Super Tech full synthetic and guess what? no difference. Don't get sucked in by the Name brand hype and cost. Oil is oil.

I bought a gallon of T4 Rotella 15w40 and plan to run that til it's gone in my hawk. I think I can get a couple of oil changes out of it at least and then I might switch to synthetic. But at $15 for this stuff it was a no brainer. I ran this in my old GS850G, I was taught that the zinc content is higher in the diesel oil and the older style engines love it. I don't actually know if that's true but I had great luck with it, that bike ran great for many miles before I sold it.

I used Rotella T3 15w-40 for break in. Still on it now but plan to switch to a synthetic at about 1000 miles.
