Hi there!

Denise here from Texas. Just got a Magician 250. 1st bike & having a hell of a time trying to learn how to shift without stalling. Stop without stalling lol. Im sure I will get better over time. I'd be interested in knowing of any upgrades available for it. Or even tips for a beginner. Thanks in advance! Happy Easter Everyone

This video will teach you about shifting, starting out etc... They are using a Hawk but the principle is the same.

For now try riding with your left hand covering the clutch lever, this will shorten your response time if you need to use the clutch. listen for hesitation in the engine and if it sounds like its going to stall then squeeze in your clutch, this will prevent the engine from stalling. As you ride, listen for the sweet spot, you will hear the RPM rev higher and you will eventually get used to shifting at the right time. Every bike takes a little time getting used to, they all seem to respond a little differently.

If the engine revs super high when you down shift then you are doing it too early. The goal is to try to match your road speed to your engine revolutions. As you shift, roll off of the throttle, and squeeze the clutch lever simultaneously, shift up or down depending on your speed then let off the clutch lever and roll on the throttle simultaneously. If it revs super high when you downshift then you are not going slow enough. If you upshift and the engine get jocky and sluggish seeming like it's going to stall then you've upshifted too soon, or into too high of a gear. The most common reason for stalling is not matching your RPM to your MPH which is a matter of being in the correct gear.
