Title questions

Got my title in mail. Is it normal for them to not sign, or put dealer ID or not fill out odometer discrepancy form?

They didn’t even sign my title. I imagine DMV isn’t going to accept this are they?

All three of my titles came signed and notarized which is required in Louisiana. It varies from state to state.

If you just received your bike from China, what you could be looking at is a "Certificate of Origin" and not a title. You take that to the DOL with the receipt to apply for a title. In Washington State that was the easiest process for getting my Hawk on the road.

Right, that's the MOC.

But it still needs to be completed .. there needs to be a dealer/seller/importer name on the front, with address, and they need to put the mileage (not zero in MI), and sign it on the back.

If it's devoid of any of that info, I'm not sure there are many states where they'll accept that.

They didn’t sign my first 2 which was a real hassle. Also they wrote dirt bike (DT) on something instead of motorcycle which ended up preventing me from renewing the tag this year. I had to buy a professional inspection certifying that it is indeed street worthy. I had to call 3 places to find one willing to do it for less than $120.00 .

On my Vader Pete didn't fill out the MOC either, but there's a good reason why: it shipped directly from Boom Intl. in Canada.

So Pete just gave me the info to put on there and authorized me to sign his name on the back. No problem there.

I *technically* should have and needed the import paperwork since it came across the US/CA border...

BUT... the biggest question the MI Sec. of State office (our DMV equiv.)asked - on both my Hawk and especially the Vader "So, is this a real motorcycle or...."

LOL. Yes, yes it is, but it's just a small one. lol.

Point is, that paper ABSOLUTELY needs to be filled out, whether you do it or the selling dealer does it.
