New X-pect not starting

Hey folks,

My first post ... about my first motorcycle ... with my first problem.

I received my new Lifan X-pect from txpowersports yesterday afternoon. Since then, I have been trying to get this bike to start. As it sits, the injector is not firing, although the harness, fuel, and spark all test OK, as does the injector when directly supplied power. I even tried a new injector with the same result.

I kept thinking maybe this is some problem with the kill switch. As I was removing panels and the fuel tank so I could get a look at all the wiring, I kept eyeballing a dead-end "growth" off a 2-wire harness and wondering what it was. I googled the number on the side of it, YC200411, and found nothing. I thought it might be an ambient temp sensor and googled that, but no luck. Just for kicks, I removed it. Hit the starter and, lo and behold, the injector started shooting fuel. I inserted it into the intake and she fired right up. Huh. Revved it a few times. CEL was on, but I thought maybe I solved the issue; that this "growth" was some sort of disabling fuse for transport. Buttoned the bike back up, got on, and .... nothing. It refused to start again. WTH?!

I reached out to Lifan, but they told me they don't deal with the general public and I had to reach out to the selling dealer. I did, however, get them to take a look at the "growth" and they informed me it is, indeed, a temperature sensor. I've uninstalled and reinstalled this sensor, disconnected and reconnected the battery, etc. I have sent an email to txpowersports, but nothing yet.

Is any of this striking a chord of familiarity with anyone? I'm kind of assuming this sensor is the issue only because it fired the one time with it disconnected. But why the heck it won't fire again is baffling to me. I am good with cars, but I'm in slightly foreign territory here. Beginning to think I should have gotten a carbureted bike.

Oh, I almost forgot. The CEL now flashes when the ignition is on. 1-1-1-3. Can't seem to find that anywhere, either. Anyone know what that code is about?

Others who have posted have had good luck directly working with Lifan. Maybe you can search for other X-pect posts and find those members, or they may chime in.

From what I have heard about txpowersports, I would not expect any help from them ever. If anything they will abuse you.

Venom Motorsports also sells these bikes and they are a legit dealer with actual customer service. I have heard of others who bought "Manny bikes" getting help from them. https://www.venommotorsportsusa.com/...31890014634086

Thanks for the info about TXpowersports.

Well, I figured it out today. Things just weren’t adding up and I kept coming back to the thought that there was something security-wise interfering. I decided to do something I should have done sooner, and that was to remove the kill button on the handlebar. Sure enough, it was stuck in the off position. Tightening it back on the handlebar makes it stick, but keeping the front screw about 4 turns loose allows the switch to operate properly. Looks crappy crooked but it is working. I’ll probably mess with it more to make it look better at some point.

You can order a complete, better quality kill switch off ebay for about $5 or $6 , i just did that to replace my RH side kill switch / elec start combo housing that was really janky ,they are of a better material /workmanship than the factory parts.

The best ones are about $10 so it's not an expensive fix , but i'm glad to hear you were able to get it running, nothing worse than a new Bike that wont run - been there done that.
