Question Help me please

I am 17 and got my third bike, it's a 2006 wildfire 200gy and I was wondering what would be good gearing for cruising at about 65. Right now the front sprocket is a 17 tooth and the rear sprocket is a 55 tooth. I live out in the country and all the ways to get to the nearest towns are highways with a 65 mph speed limit.

Thank you for that video, i may just try getting a 42 tooth sprocket for the rear, his Red line seemed very low mine red lines at about 95 hundred so I should be able to cruise a decent speed with a 42 on the rear

I am assuming you have 21/18" wheels, so a good combo for both trail/dirt riding and street riding is 17/44 (yes this will get debated). As far as parts go: the Wildfire dual-sports were manufactured by Lifan, and Lifan had and still has a pretty stout 200. Generally for performance, you probably want to start with what you already mentioned, sprocket, rear to be exact, and generally most members then upgrade the carb and/or exhaust. As far as regular maintenance goes--change the oil every 600 or so miles (600 if daily commuting), and keep an eye on the valves, and adjust the valve lash every 1000 miles. People will chime in on both the oil change and valve lash intervals (more debates), not to mention what to adjust the valves to. There are numerous videos on youtube on how to adjust them, so I would try 'valve adjustment' using your bike by name and engine size, and if none pop up, use 'valve adjustment' and Lifan 200.

All that being said--dual-sports have poor aerodynamics and numerous people are getting cruising speeds of 55 to 60, with 65 to maybe 70 TOP speeds and that is generally after sprockets. Speeds don't change too much with carbs and exhaust, again, with most members reporting comfortable cruising speeds at 55 to 60 (you are probably getting that speed stock, but lots of vibration and whatnot). Once you change sprocket(s) (some bikes come stock with 15 or 16 tooth front sprockets), the severe vibration and harsh engine noises go away and allow you to cruise comfortably at 55 to 60 with not much more top end. With modifications like carb and exhaust, you will STILL cruise comfortably at 55 to 60, only you can twist the throttle and get a bit higher top speed, but not necessarily cruising at 65+.

culcune is 100% correct, all of the mods done on these bikes improve response to the throttle and slight top end. Although you do get power increases they really don't contribute to top speed as much as pull and reaching your top speed. comparatively of all my mods I would say my pumper carburetor gave me the most improvement, everything else has just been subtle improvements.

Your Bashan came (still comes on the new Storms) with good street gearing--17/46

I tried looking them up on Ebay and could not find the 42. However, the model number is JT Sprockets JTR269.42 The JTR269 sprocket series fits the 1979 to 1982 (cannot remember the exact years) Honda XL185, which is what the rear wheel hub is copied from on most every Chinese dual-sport. The JTR269 series has numerous ratios. I cannot access Amazon at work, so the 42 might show up on one of the vendor's stores. Just put in 'JTR269.42' in Amazon's search bar and see what pops up over there. Ebay showed numerous ratios, but none were 42 specifically.

Edit: someone here will probably have a specific vendor

That is the same Amazon link I used and the same sprocket size on my Storm so it should fit.
