TXX Motorsports review time!

Well, as most of you know, those of us stuck in the Socialist Republic of Kaliforniastan are severely limited to the China-dualsports we have availible to us. Well this tax season, after looking at a few used bikes in my area I decided to stay chinese after visiting TXX Motorsports in Anaheim. After chatt ing with the owner for a bit about bikes and my experience with chinabikes, I agreed to purchase a DS. It wasn't under a 1000 dollars shipped to my door as many here have paid, but with CA tax, tags, and prep, it was pretty comparable. The bike was moved from the "Zongshen" (yup, that's what I was told) warehouse in SoCal. and arrived at the dealer the next day. The bike prep began and I arrived to check things out. Well, the color I ordered did not quite match what had arrived. I ordered a blue and white combo or a red and white combo depending on what was availible. What came has become affectionatly known as the "Spiderman bike" or "captain america special". The owner promised to check into some white plastics for me. As for the rest of the bike, I have since reprepped it and suffered a battery failure right away. I spoke again to Thomas and he agreed to send one right away. This was back in the beginning of Feb. Well, after a few weeks of "I'll send it tomorrow", he admitted that they had no batteries in stock(???) and had ordered them. Not I'm not the smartest out there, but a motorcycle battery is not the hardest thing in the world to find. My opinion at this point on this dealer is that he cares about makeing the immediate sale, but will do very little beyond that. He did take care of the registration, which IMO makes it worth it, but buying from these jokers is not recommended unless you can visit them is person and if like me, you have little choice. As for the bike. The dealer originally stated it was a Zongshen, Well, the MSO stated it was an Xmoto.Culcune found the exact bike on Jetmotos's industrial site, so it appears to Jetmoto in origin. Goes to show that the dealer either doesn't know or doesn't care. Incidently, The bike has over 300 miles on it now. with no issues.(other than the battery, which I've replaced with an on-site spare....Oh still awaiting battery and plastics.....Thomas is no longer responding to my inquiries. I may make to do a ride down there and see........SURPRISE!

Sorry to hear about the issues. He wanted to sell me one of these for $1800 OTD, which is overpriced for me, living in AZ, and being able to purchase most any bike available via mail order. (no, the bike is not overpriced for someone "stuck" in Kali, plus registration, etc--just for my specific situation as AZ is more liberal in what I can register here).

Zongshen does have a warehouse in the L.A. area, from when I inquired about becoming a Zongshen dealer. I bet that Jetmoto doesn't really have its "own" factory, but is a go-between for OEM'ing using Zongshen's facilities or something like that. (One of us needs to get a job at one of these companies to find out how they really operate ) Not happy to hear they haven't taken care of all the problems!! :x

Well, the good thing is I'm one of the few with a plated/titled Chinese dual-sport in Kaliforniastan. Get a bike man. I want to ride!

Like I said before, if I can qualify on a Qlink for financing (I was approved for some sort of sub-prime loan through their site but would have to re-apply again, I was told) I would like one of those. As far as cash goes, I am leaning towards the Hi-Bird or Komoto. I used to not like the red/white Komoto model, but it has been growing on me. The black/white and blue/white Hi-Birds are nice (and cheaper due to their standard forks and rear drum brake) but with the temperature in the 115+ Faranheit (near 50 Celcius for all you metric people), a black or blue bike might not be the best thing to buy.
