Spent some money on the Hawk today.

Pulled the trigger on some Hawk 250 upgrades today. Brush guards, performance pipe, folding shifter, and 520 O-ring chain and sprockets. I went with the 12/33 which is very close to a 16/45 ratio in the stock 428 size. It will gear it up a little but still have plenty of power for offroad.

And I've already done the carb and monoshock so next thing is going Tubliss. After that it's just some fab work to make the footpegs wider. And Jerry and Dan have almost convinced me to shave and port the head. They're relentless I tell ya!

Nice! The exhaust itself will be an improvement. I would definitely look at porting the exhaust side.

12 tooth in the front? don't hear of that much. not being big in the dirt bike scene, is there a reason for a smaller front/rear?

He's running a 520 chain now compared to the 428. Much larger sprockets.

Yes indeed Jerry. And there's a little method to my madness. I can spend another $11 and get a 13 tooth front sprocket as well and that will put me at a 17/43 ratio in the 428 size and that's plenty tall enough for highway riding considering I weigh 250lbs.

And the reason I got the brush guards and folding shifter is I'm quite certain I'll lay the bike down now and then, and I wanna minimize damage to the controls when I do.

I'm planning on converting over too whenever I wear the rear sprocket out. I do both off road and street so swapping between the 12 and 13 front is an easy swap and a 32 rear will put me right were I want to be.

I have those exact handguards. The stock levers will be too long. You will either need to cut the balls off the ends or get shorter levers. I replace the complete lever set including the master cylinder with short levers because my stock master cylinder was hanging up.

The funny thing is I've never even rode the thing yet since I bought it in November and I'm doing all of this lol. But I wanna have it ready to go if and when spring time ever gets here. Right now it's 21° and there's 2" of snow on the ground.

I'll probably just hack them off at first, but thanks for the link.

coming from someone who's also close to that, might consider pushing it a bit further. my 17/43 worked pretty had to maintain 55. the motor never argued with me, but I hate to run it that hard for too long.

I live pretty far from civilization and most of our roads are secondary pavement and gravel. When the bike does actually see a highway it will only be for a short spell. Most of our little towns are designated ATV friendly so the only law enforcement that will hassle you is a state trooper, but it's rare to see one. And 13 tooth is the biggest I can go in the 520 size.

Just for reference the nearest Walmart or big grocery store is an hour away lol.

Is this a set of brake and clutch lever or one of each?

That's for both. Much better quality than the stock ones.

I have the same also but I dropped my bike probably a week after having the levers and broke my clutch lever. So now I have my stock clutch lever on so one red one black. Anyone know where I can get just the red clutch lever replacement. Also I have to constantly adjust my clutch lever when I ride and it warms up anyone else have this problem. Is it the clutch I bought or are all Hawk clutch levers needing adjustment once warmed up? Not really a big deal for me but is weird that I have to readjust after about 30 min riding. Is that normal?
