Finally got a chance to pull my bike out....

My bike finally was pulled out of the garage for the first time in 08. With a break in the weather, and I got home before darkness I decided to get the bike out and give it a start. The bike has been parked since early Oct and I found I left the gas on (doh)....so anyway, turned key on (gee, has battery power), pulled choke and started kicking.....and kicking..and....well. After I started sweating I broke down, pulled off the air breather cover and gave the carb a squirt of starting fluid.....then kick kick kick and finally it started up. Took a good 5 min to warm up but eventually I was able to shut off the choke completly and the bike (even with 4 month old gas) was at a good idle.

I tossed on the helmet, took the bike for a spin around the neighborhood then parked it.... Oh, it was starting first kick after I had let it idle for about 10 min... It will be nice to get that old gas burned out, but I'm guessing winter will return by this weekend.

What was the temp when you took it for a ride?

Around here the temps are near 10 F and the side roads are mostly a sheet of ice.

I am getting a bit to anxious to go ride but it looks like another month to 6 weeks atleast until the weather will break around here.

Looking at the calender I see I have 40 days until 08's ORV stickers start so I will have to be ready to go with the quads then.I should be able to take the 200gy out before then I hope.

Temp got up to around 50 and sunshine, very warm for this time of year, but I got home around 4:30pm so it was starting to get dark so I only had 30 min of sun....

50 degree's would feel like a heat wave to us right now.

I guess I should be happy that a new riding season is just about to start rather than end.

I find that after a prolonged sit, draining the carb of the old fuel does wonders for starting.
