Anyone ever replaced valves or the head on Hawk/Magician?

I got a magician with a broke valve and dinged up piston out of the box(among other things that suggest the bike is used). The dings in the piston are small and I'm wondering if putting a new head or replacement valve assemblies on it is an option.. If so where can you buy either?

A safe bet for a new head, and an actual improvement over the stock Hawk head casting, would be to get a cylinder head for a TT250. It will bolt right on, and the ports and the casting as a whole are actually a bit better. It costs a bit more, but it is worth the extra cost. I would personally replace the piston, but if there are no cracks or the dings are fairly small, then smooth out any sharp edges with a little sand paper and call it good.

Now that I think about it, I have my original Hawk head sitting here. If you are willing to pay shipping then it is yours for free. Everybody paid for it, so might as well pay it forward if I can.

I did put a CSC TT250 head on mine after I broke off an exhaust stud and the extraction turned into a BIG cluster. The CSC head is also way more opened up than the Hawk head, and after porting the stock header pipe and jetting it properly with the VM26 carb, it runs like a scolded gorilla.

I read somewhere that the TT250 head has more or better finning for better cooling. Can you confirm this?...ARH

If it does then it is too small for me to tell. What the tt250 does have is much better casting quality and much better ports out of the box.

ARH, The CSC TT250 head is the exact same size, but like Dan said.....much higher quality casting with way more open passages. So it flows much much better than the stock hawk head. I used the valves from the old Hawk head, that worked fine. I ground them before putting them in off course.

I'm not sure where the CSC TT250 head can be bought, but the Hawk/Magician head(FN200-011100-0000) costs so much you might as well buy an engine at less than 3x the cost.. Only one place actually sales the engine and the head..

In another thread I have HD pics of the piston, cylinder, and head combustion chamber in it's current state. I'm not sure if it's smart to just clean the piston and replace the head. I don't know how pitted piston surfaces behave(pre-detination or later fragments etc..)

I'm still waiting for Q9 to respond I sent a second email. They don't do "warranty claims" over the phone, and the email they use for it is only processed mon-fri. Even though I sent the first email middle of last week.. When I called it sounded like it was just one guy in a quiet-small room..

CSC TT250 head $84.95 plus shipping, you might find the other parts you need there too.

I've been trying to since the middle of last week. No responses to emails and I'm told they don't do warranty claims over the phone..

You can buy non emission heads with the better exhaust port for around 55.00 shipped on ebay. It would offer a huge gain compared to stock. While its not on the bike they only have 1 valve angle ground on valve and seat. Nobody takes time to have a multi angle valve job done. The benifit would be as good or better than porting as thats what directs air as valves open.

Whoever answered the phone Saturday 10/20 when I called the toll free number after 9AM central-time. He said they only do warranty claims through service at q9powersports.com

I sent the first email last wednesday and have yet to get a response, and just sent another yesterday after that call.

Yeah,, from what I've read here and other places you're suppose to call to get faster warranty claim processing but that guy told me it's only done through email. Then with email I've been trying going on two weeks and not a single response.. Spam folder checked and address verified against what is on website..

I'm starting to be sold on the theory that Q9Powersports = TXPowersports because this is something TX has a rep for and they are basically in the same location with what looks like the same Shenzhen source.. I guess it's like: It's not a $6,000.00 Honda or Kawasaki so people will eventually just move on if we ignore them long enough when they don't get what they paid for and call us out on our claims...
