Hawk bhp
How much horsepower does a rps hawk have? I have looked all over the internet and can not find any specs.

According to the MCO that came with my 2017, 15.6hp. If that is actually true or not is a different question, but I am sure it is pretty close.

I suspect that once the bike is fitted with a better exhaust and optimized jetting, you're knocking on 16-17.

I think with an exhaust and tuned carb 17hp is more than realistic. Add in a free flowing intake and I would say they are knocking on the door of about 18hp. Considering the Chinese version of the Hawk is rated at 17hp, that 1.5hp loss has to come from the EPA stuff that gets slapped on it.

I don't know anyone who has actually dyno'd one. converted numbers in advertising on the sites ranges from 14 to 17. There's also consideration that might be at the crank and not at the rear wheel. the most accurate number I am aware of is "who the heck knows".

Looks like 14.1bhp @ 7000rpm from the manufacturer's website:
http://www.haosenmotor.com/Products/.../HS250Y-A.aspx Hope those Chinese symbols translate in the URL link. If not, google Haosenmotor, HS250Y-A. |

thats works out... they say you lose around 20% in the drive train.. 17hp at the crank minus 20% drive train loss = 13.6 at the rear wheel.. ...

My guess is that HP was probably taken a t the crank. I owned one of those and it didn't have a fender bag. It came with a plastic tool box on the left rear of the bike like the Hawk 2 or 3.

Well, if you go off of just the non-counterbalanced CG250 engines for sale like the one in this bike, they are generally rated at 11.5kw, which is right at about 15.5hp. Toss in said restrictive exhaust system and lean the carb out a bit and 14.1hp is believable.

I was taught by the same "they", 9% per gear train, 2% per chain drive. So, gear drive primary, 9%. Transmission, 9%. Chain final drive, 2%. 20% total.
