Welcome LuLi the Hawk

I already put 155miles on her this weekend. Did some checks and it seems the only issues I have had are the clips on the right front plastics broke and a nut for the rear sprocket fell off. Oddly I found it in my driveway this morning, so it must have held on until I was pulling back in.

Burnt my leg on exhaust after day one, so I wrapped it and I think that does help the carb out some from getting heat soaked.

Did some exploring and found land I didn't even know existed a mile from my house, had 3 old buses and a couple containers.

Now that Im comfortable looks like I need more speed already for around town riding. I was only hitting 52 and was getting passed like crazy. I may end up looking into getting more supermoto type street tires if I decide to keep this bike for mainly on road use.

Nice pictures of the Hawk. Looks like some typical South Louisiana scenery. Once you have it broke in you will want to look into some of the typical upgrades and mods. Gutting the cat will bring that exhaust temps way down so your not burning the hell out of your leg. Tuning the carb and sprocket changes will get it more highway friendly. Sounds like the latest batch of Hawks are having rear sprocket bolt issues.

If it was 52 on the China Bike speedo (stock, non digital speedo), you are most likely 5 to 10% slower then what it was showing.

A properly tuned carb will also help with the exhaust and engine heat

Thanks for the pics. I'm not sure why old buses appeal to me, but they do.

In regards to your sprocket nut being on the ground, I suggest a visit to my thread here.

Ok, your fondness for buses either comes from good childhood memories or the excitement of bus figure 8 races!

Nothing better than seeing old buses slamming into each other!
