Another TxPowersports order play by play

Here we go...

5/18-I called Thursday 5/18 to make sure they definitely still had the black Hawk 250's in stock and was assured they did and it would ship directly from them. I placed my order that day.

5/19- I received a shipped notice along with the UPS LTL tracking number. WAY ahead of the game I thought. Super happy about that!

5/23-UPS LTL still not showing a shipment under the tracking number I was given. I emailed TXP to ask them to verify my shipping number and received a short response of "It finally arrived and started shipping out today, the tracking number will update in 24-48 hours".

mmmmkkkk.... so it definitely wasn't shipped when I was told it was. They didn't have one actually in stock and it didn't come directly from them. I was warned. I'll keep this posted as the story develops.

I got another response that indicated it was at the back of the train and RPS got the caboose containers.

I responded to let them know I was confused about this situation but was told it was going out today. At least they are responding to my queries.

I should have mentioned in the first post that I have a family member who purchased a Hawk from them a while back and his transaction went smooth as silk. He's super happy.

more to follow...

5/24-Back on track. The shipping number resolves in UPS and is halfway here already.

Despite the confusion, the expected shipping time frame from my order is exactly where it should be. Now my assumption is that TXP assigns tracking numbers to a specific order as soon as the order is placed and processed, not necessarily on the truck out the door.

Anyway, no harm, no foul. I plan to purchase another one soon and will still use TXP at this point.

5/24- UPS freight called to confirm appoint on 5/31.

5/25-I will be picking up from local UPS terminal tomorrow morning. This has gone really well so far. I'm
ahead of schedule.

5/26- Picked up from UPS terminal today. Went super smooth and easy. Got it home and unwrapped for the most part. I don't see any damage that would warrant any kind of claim at this time, but we haven't really opened it up yet, just taken a cursory glance over it. The Hawk came with black rims, oil sight glass, burrito tube and helmet lock (and maybe other things) that I wasn't expecting to receive. Bonus!

It will actually be a chimichanga or taquito tube. If I can modify it, a margarita tube.

5/31- The transaction is complete and went as well as it possibly could. The bike was put together on Monday, 5/29 (Memorial Day) and went well. We had two minor issues. We were missing one of the chromed handlebar pinch bolts and we (thought) we were missing the bottom shock mount bolt. A trip to the hardware store fixed that but... we later found the shock bolt (minus nut) caught up in between the front gear and its cover. It was jammed in there good, but didn't harm anything.
The bike fired right up and we took it for a quick spin around the block and called it a day. The MCO and BOS arrived Tuesday and was all filled and out and signed as a motorcycle.

Short version is.... based on this transaction, I would not hesitate to purchase another Hawk (or 4) from TXP.

Good to here everything went well. But please tell me you changed the oil before you rode it. The oil that come in these bikes is crap. Go get a good non synthetic motorcycle oil for wet clutches.

We were on the same schedule. I ordered a black Hawk from them 5/19 afternoon. And my tracking number never worked until my package was actually IN my city at UPS freight.
After a lot of confusion with my local UPS and my bike going on a all day truck ride around my city. They told me, "my box was dropped back off and sitting on their loading dock". So I went and picked it up after work 5/26 and was riding around the yard that night.
I found that I had ALOT of left over screws and a spring.
I still haven't received any MCO or BOS though.

Yes, we changed to Rotella 15-40 before even firing it up and it will be ridden for 15-30 minutes and changed again. We set valve lash and everything before we ever started it.

Rusty-give the MCO a few more days to come in. I wouldn't worry unless maybe two weeks or so passes, then I would be calling them. We did have some extra screws, flat and rubber washers left over too.

I still need to do valves. It started up fine and Im around 4 miles on the clock now. I need to go get a new cycle permit and that BOS to register AND gear more importantly. I really didn't think it was going to be at my door in one week, so I put off looking at gear.
