Should I get an oil cooler?
Vader 125
So, I was wondering if I could get anyone's thoughts on an oil cooler kit. I'm probably going to order the piranha kit below(if I need to). Should I get it, or wait to see how it runs with new jets installed? It's running lean, so I know it's running hot. Would the kit help with this? Getting jets in the mail today, stock carb. I'll probably start low and work my way up. The jets range from 80-98. (Stock is 78) Problem is, I'm a noob, learning as I go so any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all in advance!!! https://www.amazon.com/Piranha-Compl...oil+cooler+kit |

Ditto Merlin's comment. If your gonna be at WOT most of the time, it's a must. I installed a racing CDI and coil on my bike so I did an oil cooler before I took it for it's first ride. With the cooler my bike takes about 1 1/3 quarts of oil to reach the full mark on the dipstick, which I couldn't see until I spray painted the dipstick white.
And don't get reamed $$$ for an oil cooler that doesn't even use banjo fittings, when you can buy one from ebay that does use them, for 1/2 the price: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252370884662...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

You're welcome. One thing to note, the mounting bracket included in the kit wouldn't work with my carb pointing forward. If your intake is taller you may be able to use it. I had to McGyver a bracket from a scrap aluminum "L" from another bike project. You can get aluminum bar and channel stock from Lowes.
