Noooo, speede wont start :(

and just after I got done praising it, it wont start now :(

so I go to start up speede. just like normal, get on the bike, pull the choke, set it in neutral, put it in the on position, push the electronic start and go half way on the throttle.

nothing. the starter fires up but she just wont go. I keep trying, then I try kick starting it, nothing happens, I can hear the starter but no engine.

after about 4-5 mins of trying I think I flood the engine and just let it sit for a minute. I try again it she starts (with some smoke from flooding the engine)

Do that a few times in 100 degree heat, while in an intersection, on one day's ride. That was what the Jetmoto did when I first got it, with the stock engine. It constantly died randomly, and had to be restarted,in intersections, using kickstarting, which also did not want to work.

When I installed the new Lifan motor several weeks ago, it didn't die as much, unless it was very cold, but would start on the first or second kick; unlike the Zongshen-sourced Jetmoto engine. However, its tranny took a dump...

I will no longer praise these bikes, or think good thoughts about them. That seems to be when they die on you !!

If you are needing to give it 1/2 throttle with the choke on, you got a problem. Either, your choke isn't fully closing and/or you need to richen the fuel air mixture by raiseing the carb needle. You might also want to check to verify your fuel screw is at 2 turns out. The motor should fire up cold at an idle with the choke on. Throttle + choke = flooded engine.

I am not familiar with the location of everything on the engine, where should I look and what should I turn?

If you haven't done the carb mod yet, I would suggest you do. If you do a search here for "carb mod" or "clip mod" you'll find the procedure. What you need to do is pull the slide out of the carb and raise the needle by dropping the clip one slot. The top of the carb where your throttle cable goes in unscrews and this allows you to pull the slide out of the carb. Once you have it out, compress the spring and unhook the cable. A small spring type w-clip holds the needle into the slide. Remove the needle, and you'll see a c-clip in a slot on the needle. Drop the clip down one notch. Re-assemble in reverse order. It'll make sense once you get it apart. What this does is richen the fuel mixture by letting more fuel through the main jet at low to mid throttle position. Lemme know if you have more questions.

I keep a can of starting-fluid on hand for situations like this. I squirt into the air filter and it usually gets my bike going (assuming there is no spark issues).

Yup, you CAN do it on the bike, but you will need to pull some plastic and probably the seat and gas tank.

*sigh*

Nobody every reads the 'tech info' section anymore. Carb adjustment instructions are here:

http://www.chinariders.net/modules.p...showpage&pid=3

I didn't need to completely remove the tank on my Lifan. I just unbolted the rear of the tank, loosened the front, and tilted the tank upwards slightly to get easier access to the carb.

It's a nock-off of a Keihin carb. Probably made by Keihin under a different name. Jets from a Keihin carb fit right in.

OOOOOOh no!!! If used on a regular basis engines get addicted to it, and won't start without it.

Jonathan.

If an engine won't start without starting fluid, you have a problem. Check for spark from the plug, if it is there and your engine still won't fire, give a little squirt and try. Works well with lawnmorers, generators, or anything that has sat for a while to give them a little "kick in the butt".

I would check electrical connections...for instance...look at the main plus and minus cables coming off the battery...a crack or break in the electrical can cause the bike to not start...

vibrations can do terrible things to electrical connections...

my 2cents...
