Ran out of gas today. Discovered a leak.

My GY2 gas tank is leaking someplace. I ran out of gas on my way to work and had to push about 4km to a station.

I filled up with gas and then noticed that the seam on the bottom right side was wet with gas. I have a steel tank.

Just the the falling apart exhuast, I guess it is time for upgrade.

Yikes, that's not a good location to leak 8O . Sounds like it's right on top of the exhaust pipe. If it's the tank seam, and not a rust out issue, get it welded up. Should be an easy job for a weld shop. Just make sure they know its a gas tank so they can take precautions. Other option is to drain it, clean it, and try epoxying it up. I fixed my Roketa's first plastic tank that way. Worked fine until I could get a replacement.

Looks like a seam leaking. It about halfway up the tank on the inside.

I am thinking of trying to find a larger tank and mounting that up for increased range and hopefully no leaks.

Yes the leak is above the pipe, but the gas is just a drip and lands on the valve cover. It evaporates before it gets to the pipe.

My bike is still under warranty so I may be able to get another tank.

hi there

the same thing happened to me one week ago. pushed the bike 6km .

didn't noticed any leak until a couple of days later, it dripped from a little hole (probably a stone from a car in front of me) right next to the fuelswitch

well, I will probably get a new tank on warranty, but in the meantime i biught some leakfix and applied, and it seems to work

good luck

JB weld is my friend. It will probably hold long enough to find a replacement tank.

Tank was leaking on the inside where the front right mount was welded to the tank. Currently sealed with JB weld, but I am not counting on it to hold.

Also removed the exhaust and weld up all the cracked in the muffler flange area. Bike much quieter now.

Removed the toolbox that was melted by the cracked exhaust and relocated the starter solenoid and coil to inside of frame.

I am bidding on a larger gas tank from a dr350. I think a tank and new custom sidecovers are in order.

Give the lifan a new slim look.

Kreem is the gas tank sealer of choice.

Thanks for that link. I don't want to mess with coating that cheap tank. I am hoping to make the dr tank fit and get alittle more capacity too.
