CSC TT250 Exhaust Popping

Hey guys,
So I installed the after market exhaust and it sounds amazing other then it has amplified the popping sound under deceleration when you cut off the throttle. Do you have any advise on how to eliminate this? I have checked for leaks in the exhaust and all is sealed nicely. I was planning on putting in a new name brand spark plug here in the next few days but was wondering if there was anything else that I could do? Thanks.

You either have a leak at the header/head joint sucking in air on decel or you're too lean. What jetting are you running?

Try turning out your idle mixture screw two turns.

With the overwhelming threads on the Hawk and the TT, has it been mentioned if this pipe will work on the Hawk?

It's not quite a direct bolt on but it is close.

That is where most of the people are buying them. I have the red one because the black one was $9,999.99 at the time of my purchase.

Popping in the exhaust usually means too lean a mixture. Raising the needle will richen it up through 3/4 throttle. Ultimately, you should replace the main jet with a bigger one, and you may also have to install a richer pilot jet.

That's a common issue. Disable the exhaust air injection and it'll probably stop. Tuning the carb to stop a deceleration issue is likely to be fruitless.

No, it doesn't.
Raising the needle will do little to nothing for closed throttle operation.

Yes, I reread his post, and you are correct.

My Hawk does not have an exhaust air injection and it's doing the same thing.I'm running 115-30 jets with t-4 exhaust modified air intake and 17-43 sprockets.

popping in an exhaust can be either a too lean or too rich condition. if you are too lean and the mixture is too lean to fully ignite, you will get gas dumped into the exhaust. If you are too rich, you will have gas left over and it will get dumped into the exhaust. either condition can cause popping. Popping can also be from a leak at either the headpipe/head interface or from the canister/headpipe interface. I'd put it back to stock and sell the aftermarket noise maker...

chuck, have you checked to see if your gasket at the head joint is sealed or leaking? Sucking air at the head will cause a pop in the exhaust.

PNWDualRider, you're running lean with the new exhaust and stock jetting. I'd raise the needle a clip (this will help overall response) and also open the mixture screw a half turn , as previously mentioned, and see how it goes from there. Try this before re-jetting. It's free and immediate.

Man...I ALMOST ordered that black exhaust for the Phoenix.... It looks AWESOME on your bike! :-)

Did you remove it or do they not come with it?

Sometime it sputters some air out from that area, maybe I do have a leak.
