How low pressure with no rim locks?
I now carry a pump with me and was wondering just how low I can deflate the tires to when I make it to the trails?
Without a rim lock, I would guess no lower than 14psi? Has anyone done a significant amount of trail riding any lower than that without problems? Also, what are you inflating to for on pavement? I'm currently running them between 20 and 22psi. |

I added a rim lock to the rear, so I can depressurize to just about whatever I want. in loose stuff, I shoot for 10-12.

I wonder if those would be a good deal for using those tire plugs. Plugs have saved me literally several times from having to do the spare tire change on my vehicles., long enough to make it to the nearest discount tire which are seemingly on every corner down here. I had that spoke failure which punctured my rear tube last week and put me out of business on the side of the road

No, the rim lock I installed requires another hole to be drilled in the rim, about the size of the valve stem hole. The rim lock I use is from an old Honda, and it simply clamps the bead to the rim from the inside.

I may do a TUbliss when I've worn out the stock tires, just curious how low of pressure I can get away with until then.

as well as rim type... If theres rocks stay above 16psi... as you don't want to bend the rims bead on a rock... soft smooth ground go down to 14psi sand 10 to 12psi at low preasures it is possable to roll the tyre & brake the bead seal... pinch the tube... yer could go lower... but to be safe... Tubliss.. i have them in my TTR250... run down to 5/6psi quite often.. a half worn tyre with a tubliss will give as much or more trackton than a new tyre with a tube... ...

I've run about 8 PSI on a dirt bike with tubes on sand trails. On a tubeless ATV, 5 PSI on sand trails. I know a lot of people that say you have to put in that slime / repair leak stuff to get the tire to stay on that low. I always have some with me but I don't put in in unless I absolutely have to. Because it's almost impossible to get the tire off afterwards. I've never tried it in a tube but it should seal a leak if there was one.
