250 vs. 450
Here are a couple of experienced riders opinions on why bigger is not necessarily better when it comes to dirt bikes >
This is why my advice is to invest in a 250f because we are both 6', I am 220 lbs and I would still ride a 250f in the woods over the 450, and this is coming from a rider who has been riding for 10 years and I have riden most yamahas, ktms, and every honda dirtbike from 1990 and up), another really good idea for you to do is go out an test ride the bikes that you would like, I did that when looking for mine. Own both, but would not necessarily say I "stepped up." The 450's handle like crap compared to a 250f. They are a handful to say the least. While i like riding my 450, I love everything about my 250f so much better. Are there times I wish I had the 450's power? Sure, but I would never trade the extra power for the heavier feeling, pushy front ends and the arm-pump that comes with them! |

Since you are in Cajun Country, I expect that you encounter plenty of mud and sand. Is the big bore power smoother and easier to handle in the mud?
