shhhh....... don't tell my doctor!
I finished getting the Roketa back together yesterday after the wreck from about a month ago. Overal damage was incredibly minor for the hit it took. A few scuffs on bodywork, had to replace the clutch lever, handlebars, shift lever, mirror and some gouges on the engine case and lower fork tube. Bike fired right up after sitting for 5 weeks, soooooo I took it down the road, cast and all! Keep in mind I have a half healed collar bone on the left side, and a cast on my right hand from my knuckles to my elbow and completely around my thumb. Actually, it wasn't as awkward as you'd think, but not very safe, so it's parked until atleast next week when the cast comes off. My collar bone is feeling much better, and I am feeling pretty darn good considering. Thanks again for the helpful comments and parts to get me on the road again. The bike is good as new, and if I ever doubted the strength of these chassis's, I have even MORE confidence in the bike now! Ride on china brothers and sisters!!!

congratz on getting back on the horse and off the couch. Glad to hear you are back up and moving. I broke my collar bone as a kid and believe me that hurt worse than giving birth.

Oh yeah, ride 'em cowboy! Hopefully my thumb has healed and wont need surgery after the cast comes off. I would like to get to 2000 miles this year, but I only got about another month of riding 'till snow will be on the way. Thanks again guys and gals!

Sounds like me when I was in a wheelchair. I would wheel myself up to my SUV, pull myself up in it, my wife would load the wheelchair in the back, I would take off my right boot/cast and drive. Felt freakin' great to get off the couch and feel like a person again!

Man, i just read up on the post from when you got injured.
I ate it going about 20-25 on dirt, and that sucked! I couldn't imagine doing 45 and wrecking! Crashing does seem to make you a little more wise when it comes to the relationship between you and your machine. It's great to hear you're recovering well though! This forum is great, I like how everyone genuinely cares about everybody else. Lots of positive vibes to speed up the healing process! |

Been there! Done that!
In August of 1999, I highsided my new 1998 Buell S1W. If you guys don't know what I highside is, use your imagination and you'll figure it out... ! That's right, going over the HIGH SIDE as the bike flips over! You've probably seen it on tv. Josh Hayes did it Sunday at the AMA Supersport Race at Laguna. Anyway, I shattered my clavical on the leftside into 14 pieces. I couldn't walk upstairs to get in bed. I had to sleep downstairs on the couch. I couldn't even get up off the couch without help. To make matters worse, I'm not the world's best patient either!
Seriously Red I feel for ya man! Glad you're getting better! Don't rush it. There's still plenty of time to ride. It's nippy out but the sun is shining! SamM
