Won't start? (FIXED)
Okay so had to step away before I got all Clarke Griswold, but the darn thing won't turnover now. Have gas, spark, haven't messed with anything sin e I had it running the other day. Not sure where to go next.
Maybe I need to adjust the valves? I know that can make it hard to start. Also does anyone have any idea what I should expect to see on a compression test? Man I hate this ko d of annoying stuff, need a battery this kicking is for those young fellas!

Maybe broke a bunch of junk loose in the gas and the carb is blocked up?

Speaking of those "Kill Switch wires"... maybe one of the "Safety/Kill Switch" wires got bumped/removed during everything you have been doing? ... I've done that before when I was replacing things on the Kawasaki, eventually I bypassed them when I found out 'faulty safety switch wires' was the reason I was left 'stranded' one day
Check the Neutral, Clutch, Brake 'safety/kill switch' wires (if it has any )

You know, the perfect solution for that kill sw on the odd occasions I happen to use it would be to replace it with a momentary switch. That way you won't forget it has been thrown and sit there cranking and cranking like an idiot which I confess to have done.
I guess it's useful for turning over the engine without ignition for some reason.

Loved the Griswold reference.

Pulled the gas line from the petcock and fuel does come out of petcock, pulled fuel line off carb and fuel is making it that far, next step is pull the carb and see if I can find anything. Carb is right out the box, was firing on 2nd/3rd kick so not sure what changed. All I've done since last time it ran is reinstall air-box and attach throttle (no more vise grips). Damn Murphy I guess.

When you twist the throttle and let it go can you hear the carb slide smacking/seating back to the bottom of the carb slide tube? You should hear metal to metal as the slide seats back into the bottom of the tube.
Did you mess with the choke at all? Try turning the idle screw up higher. Has to be something to do with the installation of the throttle. / / |

if you can get to the back of the carb with the palm of your hand (air tube off), cover the whole back of the carb with your palm and push the kick lever down with your hand till you feel it sucking on your hand and then stop sucking again ... hand should now smell strong of fuel and maybe be a touch wet from fuel ... if it is, try to start it (that is often a quick way to clear a jet)
