Current Options for 230cc Dual Sport Bikes
I've been doing a little research trying to update myself on the currently available, 250cc dual sport bikes from China. Here are the bikes I have heard about. Please let me know who is selling them, and the current prices. If you can, provide links to threads describing these bikes. Also, let me know of the bikes I missed.
Bashan DB-08-250/Bashan BS250GY-18/Roketa DB-08-250/Roketa Storm 250 Bashan BS250GY-9/Roketa DB-03-250/Jet Moto Enduro 250 Hawk 250 Vento Enduro 250 SSR XF250/XP250

It appears CSC, from Azusa, California, is also working on a 250cc, dual sport bike from Zongshen.

An updated Hawk 250? It looks like it has an EGR which is good for the CA buyers.

The CSC bike seems to have the same type engine as the two Bashan bikes. Is that a counterbalancer at the front of the engine? However, the CSC bike has a Zongshen engine, which has some cosmetic differences with the Bashan engine.

That new Zongshen unfortunately looks carburated. The RX3's EFI helps it stand out from the China bike market (along with being an adventure bike and all).

Yes, all these dual sport bikes have carburetors.

Yes, the CSC bike in the pic has a counter-balancer.

Thanks. It appears the Hawk and Vento bikes don't have counterbalanced engines, but the two Bashan and Zongshen bikes do have counterbalanced engines. I assume the SSR bike also has a counterbalanced engine.

The black/red SSR looks to be the pick of the bunch....

It's a nice bike, but it certainly is the most expensive. I'm sorry to say I have heard recent reports of poor customer service from SSR.

Yes, the SSR is a nice bike. I was a bit turned off by the 18" / 17" wheel size, and the price. The SSR XF250 sells pretty firm at $3,000.00 where I'm at, plus 7% tax and a dealer prep fee put the bike at almost $3500.00. The Hawk 250 is $1,350.00 delivered, and $1,450.00 w/ tax.
So that puts the SSR XF250 almost 2 1/2 times the price....wow. Granted the SSR comes assembled and dealer prepped w/ a "real" warranty. I also prefer the 18/21 wheel size of the Hawk. |

Yes and I only listed vendors that were reasonable priced including shipping. There are plenty more vendors selling the Hawk for instance at $2,000.00 shipped. They didn't make the list or get saved in my 'favorites'. If you search the listed vendors you will notice a couple new enduro type bikes that we haven't yet run into here on the forum. / |

No doubt. This thread is incredibly helpful.
It's so good I've proposed a wiki for the site where great stuff like this could be collected.
