Voltage Regulator is Overcharging
Hello All!
We have been having fun with my son's 125cc ATV. However, we have run into a problem. The bike is overcharging. I tried replacing the voltage regulator, but I get the same results. Over 15v at idle and up to 17v mid-rpm. I have read where it could be the stator (which doesn't make sense to me, how does it overcharge as a failure mode?) or the battery. The regulators are the 4 pin model. I do not know how to test them independently. Has anyone else run into a similar problem? |

Sounds like the regulator rectifier to me. I have never heard of a stator throwing to many volts that is what the rr is for.

I would agree. Is the replacement identical?

Thanks all.
Identical in form. Not sure in function. It is a 4 pin, but I have no way of knowing with these things. They are super cheap. I am considering finding a better one with wires and a pinout so I can wire it myself to make sure. Any suggestions on that front? |

Thanks all,
It is an AC/DC bike and regulator. Does anyone have a line on a good replacement? I could just have a lot of junk regulators. |
