Big Gulp been replaced. 1996 Chevrolet 1500. Will be needing a name.

Picked up this old Chevy today. 258K miles, but runs like new. Made a dumpster stop across the street from its last home.

Had to cover the hole from the gooseneck ball.

I need to fix the blower van. It only works on high and the AC does not work. System has freon in it. Likely just too low or a switch someplace.

I responded to your blower motor issue in the Ford Expedition thread, but it bears repeating.

The heater motor resistor pack has failed. When that happens, the default is no resistance, which means high speed. This might be the onehttp://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...R76_0239905447

Good score! Does it have the 4.3, 5.0 or 5.7? Son of Weldangrind has a '98 with a 4.3 that looks just like yours. His has a five speed.

5.7L engine. Will be stopping at the parts store for a resistor and some light bulbs. One headlight is out and one turn signal.

The estimator show 40 psi oil. Engine is smooth and quiet. Transmission is smooth and quiet. Tires are okay. Will need some for next winter.

List of needs immediately. Blower resistor, light bulbs, and fix the AC.

Dad is bringing a receiver hitch next month that fits this model. I am going to transfer the wiring and the brake controller from Big Gulp over. The parts van that Dad has here is going to give up a wheel and tire for a spare.

I also want to put a stock stereo back in it. Walmart replacement is terrible.

I also think it needs an oil change. The oil looks dark, but it was full. Will be taking it to the dumpster today.

The receiver from your Dad is a good score; if it's a Class III, it's capable of 5000lbs pulling weight, 500lbs tongue weight and 300lbs free weight.

Some of the Walmart stereos can be quite good, and they often have Bluetooth capability. Even Pioneer and Sony are usually less than $100.00.

I agree with having an OEM stereo, but they are often ridiculously priced.

It might be wise to dump the trans oil and filter, since you don't know the history.

It is a dark green. The receiver is a class III or IV. He got it for his van, but found it is was for a truck.

The stereo is a BOSS audio. Looks good, but doesn't tune the stations I like. Might be an antenna issue too. Also I find it hard to use.

Today I got the bulbs, resistor, and oil change stuff. Used it to take the trash into town and the fan no worky at all now.

Will check the trans fluid next. Probably could use a change.

This is what we named Son of Weldangrind's truck. It is Bubble's alter-ego, from a show called Trailer Park Boys. He even had a decal made up for the rear window.

That name doesn't fit this truck to well.

I replaced the bulbs today. All the lights work now. Diagnosed a bad blower fan switch. The resistor was okay. Ebay, $15 shipped. Will return the resistor to Oriellys. We have snow so I think that I will put the V10 engine block in the back over the axle. Going to drop it at scrap soon.

Snort. I remember Trailer Park Boys.

'Mystery Machine' cuz you don't know it's history.

'Booger' cuz it's green.

I could go on but they just get worse.
